Quite a difference between 50 total and 600 in just one year.
Do you think there's any possibility that we might not be hearing all the story?

FWIW, If I wanted a Toyota, this would not stop me from buying one.

Honestly I don;t know and my dog aint in this arguement (ex that toyota isnt the end all-be all manufacturers as some may thingk.

I do know that in the 80's (yeah i'm old) I had a 280 zx that the accelrator pedal got stuck under the floor matt. The fix from Datsun was to "remove the floor mats". So this isn't a really new story (as far as the floor mats are concerned)

Most likely just seeing different data from different sources. I'd still venture to say that the failure rate is pretty low.

FWIW, one of the Toyota boards I frequent gives me the impression that most Toyota owners aren't thrilled at this "fix."

Also, FWIW, Toyota has went above and beyond in seeking approval of the fix before they released it, even though they didn't have to.

I doubt I will take my vehicles in to have the metal shim put in the pedal assembly.

I read that Toyota has racked up, with NHTSA, the most unintended acceleration complaints of any automaker since 2001, and more over, more than all the other automakers put together.
 
well I just don't hope all the media hype doesn't screw Toyota up like they did a few years back with the Audi 5000.....................Audi still hasn't recovered completely from that, and I see them now as the best built German Car.My G Friends Lexus ES350 is on that list.............she is paranoid about driving it , and scared to trade it and loose a lot of money. only time will tell, but till then it's gloomy for all those Toyota dealer's that had to up fit there dealerships with the new 23M dollar model they require you to build now.

Right now I'd love to sell Toyota short.
 
One of my client's here is a Toyota Dealer.he informed me that they are trading cars back in now for cars that are later production cars without the problems...... he is still selling and has money in the bank for the future.

Are you saying they are buying new cars from the lot with new systems???
How can that be possible Toyota claims they had no problem until last week when they had the recall.
 
No ! what I am saying is......that they are purchasing "future production cars" which may fall down the line in 3- 6 months of production. they will have the new updated systems in place.
 
the way I see it .....too many cars are being produced period. they could cut production in half................. everyone would benefit and we would not have these problems or as much of them. 2.3 million is a lot of cars to re call.

According to someone over at TundraSolutions, they are already rolling Tundras off the line with Denso pedal assemblies. I suppose all they would have to do would be ship the parts to the production facilities and start using them.

Don't know where they got the info.

Also, according to a guy I know at the Toyota dealership, they are still striking deals on the affected cars - people just can't leave out with them until they get the fix. Again, I can't vouch for this. The more I read it really seems to me folks who were gonna buy a Toyota are still going to buy one and the folks being the most vocal about this were anti-Toyota in the first place.

EDIT: The guy that mentioned having the Denso pedal assembly "ordered" a Tundra, and said that it was on it's way to the dealership and that both it was verified that it had the Denso part in it. Again, can't validate, just passing on "what I've read."
 
Haven't looked for a written report yet, but last night news reports have Toyota with another problem (possibly known by). This time brakes on the Prius. Don't know the extent of the problem.

Can't agree on this one as I don't think that that media has it out for Toyota and the problem is real or Toyota would have done their best to prove that it wasn't a problem. As for the general public, if there will be those biased for and against auto manufacturers, but I don't think this outcry would be any different than if Ford or Chevy were going through this. You would have the Toyota (or Honda or...) folks telling everyone what poor of a build quality the domestics (or ...) have. Toyota screwed up and it is their turn in the barrel.
