Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo

Mr. Clean

The Man Who Knows The Man
& Conditioner

I've been buying gallons of DG Car Wash so it's been a while since I last bought a jug of the Meguiar's GC wash, but Sunday realized I was low on soap and Car Quest was closed. WM had a 64 oz. jug for $6, so I picked one up.

Filled my tire/wheel bucket with @ 3 gallons of water and mixed in 3 oz. (measured). Agitated with my hand and measuring cup and received a nice bucket of suds. Washed the tires and wheels and in the end the soap was still rather slick and the sudsing action had not waned.

Repeated the same quantities in my wash bucket with the same results. For this wash (one of my personal vehicles) I did not fill the foam gun.

I was happy with the results. I wish local retailers would sell this product by the gallon at a favorable price point. Though admittedly, $12/gal (2/64 oz) is very reasonable.

If you get lucky you can find it on sale at Target or Costco for about $7-8/ gallon. This is what I have used for a long time. Sometimes if I feel like being extra special to my car I will use something like p21s or DoDo juice BTBM, but i say 95% of the time its Gold Class, one of the best OTC washes.

I don't shop at Costco, but I've never seen the gallon sized jug at any of the local Targets. At $8/gallon, I might clear the shelves. :)

Edit to add:
Somewhere between GC and DG I had been using the NXT wash as I thought it cleaned a bit better than the GC. It has been forever since I've seen a jug of NXT wash on a retailer's shelf. I wonder what happened.

Me too - I thought it was good stuff. I just can't find it anymore either.

I have been using GC for a long time now. I prefer it over all OTC washes great feel, great smell and most of all a great wash.

Has anyone used Mothers CG car wash? I remember using it but that was years back.

I have used Mothers. It is OK. It cleans ok but no standout in lubricity or suds but safe enough. It has a nice smell.

I have never had the pleasure to use the stuff. I also see a new wash ntx ? It also look like a possibility.:idea I do have to find a wash that's not gonna break the bank, and still give great results. The quest goes on...

Assuming you are referring to Meguiar's NXT, I'm not aware of anything new about it other than it is a rarity in this area to find it on retailer's shelves. IMO, it is a very nice wash and relying strictly on a distant memory it was a notch above GC in cleaning ability. I don't remember the cost.

Speaking of cost, I was in a different WM last weekend and noticed their price on GC was $6.97 per 64 oz. jug. The WM where I made my purchase had a price "rollback" tag showing $6.00. Do you think they rollback and then roll forward? :hmmm:

At under $8, I'm going first thing tomorrow morning, hope my store has it in stock. Thanks for the tip. GC is all I use.
