07 GMC Sierra

This truck is only a few years old and was in decent shape. The main reason for the showcase is the tonneau cover. It went from dull and faded to like new. It took 3 applications of Poorboy's Trim Restorer about 15 minutes apart. I wiped off the excess and wowed the customer.;)

The sun was pretty brutal but I opted to not put my tent up mainly so I could see what I was doing and so it would be easier to take some before and afters. I had no trouble working in full sun other than keeping my sweat off the car.

After I washed and clayed it I went right to treating the tonneau cover because I knew it was going to need multiple applications and I wanted to have dry time between them.

This was before:

I followed up the Poorboy's with a coat of Ultima Tire and Trim Guard for some added durability. Thinking back I wish I had taken shots of each stage but I just have the after:

In the above pic you'll notice a nasty scratch by the handle of the tail gate. That was before I sanded and polished. It practically disappeared which also made the customer very happy. Sorry no close up after shot. I just didn't think to take one at the time. I will get better at these I promise.;)

Here was the truck before I started. Dirty but in decent shape:

This is a 50/50 of the correction. I used Meguiar's 105 with a white polishing pad on my FLEX at speed 5. This time I mixed in some Poorboy's Polish w/carnauba blue (3 parts 105 to 1 part PWC) to give the 105 a longer working time in the direct sun. It had an added benefit of dusting less too:

OK now just some nice after shots:

This is another UPP application using the FLEX and PFW pad. All I can say is I am thankful I tried this method because I love it.

This was a nice color to polish. It made me wish my truck wasn't white.

I want to mention something more about working in the sun. I washed and clayed the truck at 8am before it got hot.

I would not recommend washing a car/truck in full sun where the surface of the paint is hot to the touch.

Very nice.So let me get this straight as an lsp.... You applied UPP by pfw? What speed?
Explain the process if there is more involved please

I covered the process I used in my Rolls Royce Post. Here's what I wrote:

"I then applied Four Star UPP with a purple foamed wool pad on the FLEX at speed 6 using only the weight of the buffer. This is proving to be a super fast and efficient way to apply the UPP. You use very little product this way. A thin 3" line of product was enough to do each panel.

What I like about using the PFW pad is it's ability to coat all the intricate areas with no fear of harming the pad or getting product built up in the crevices. The trick to this is to buff the intricate areas after you have buffed a panel using just the residual sealant left in the pad. This method leaves very little if any residue to remove. If you think you have to use more product than what I just said to use then this method is not for you."

Ok, I do remember reading that.

I'll blame the memory loss on the new meds.
(not that i'm an idiot)
