Beyond repair?

Hi everyone. I'm the owner of a Porsche 944 turbo and need some professional help.

The paint on my car has flaked in this particular spot. I would really like some input on how to fix this. The problem is progressively getting worse.

My initial thoughts:
1. remove peeling section with razor blade
2. wetsand with 0800grit (to blend coats)
3. wetsand with 1500grit (to blend coats)
4. wetsand with 2000grit (to blend coats)
5. use swirl remover (Meguirs swirl remover #9)
6. use swirl remover (Griots machine polish #3)
7. wax (Griots best of show wax)

#5,6 and 7 would be done with Griots Random Orbital.
The car also has no clear coat.

Any advise would be GREATLY appreciated!

Your clear is peeling and repainting is about the only good choice...You could buff that up and make it blend better but its more of a repaint IMO

Peeling paint is beyond what I get involved with on a car. I leave that kind of thing up to body shop guys.

Sounds like what you are thinking might work but I have no experience with it.

Rasky - yes... def was a poor prep job on the seem :(

I'm still optimistic my idea will work. Hopefully someone with a similar situation will chime in. The car has no clear coat so hopefully it would blend together nicely.

I have worked on many cars like this and some that where a lot worse. The thing that I found to work best for blending the base coat (color) and clear was a rotary. I used a cutting pad with a lighter cut polish...you really don't have to cut that much, what you are doing is just shining up the base coat and trying to break off the edges of the clear, so that you get to an area that leaves a clean line..If yo can understand what I mean.

I understand what you mean. I do have a dremel with some polishing pads. Perhaps that is a good substitute for a rotary?

Not really but use your light cut polish with a cotton applicator and some elbow grease and concentrate on a small area at a time...Move up on the polish if its not cutting enough but start light and work up
