What type of pads do I want with my Flex. Hopefull Ron, PapaHof and Kurt can chime in since they saw my car. Do I want 4*, CSS or lake Country?

Orange, White, Black (Do I need Blue?)

Looks like you got no friends.:D

If it were me I would choose the Four Star pads. They seem to perform better for me.

I've use LC and CCS and Kompressor. Try the 4*. Dunno why, but if Troy reccomends em, you can't go wrong.

I have tried the LC CCS and A couple other brands. I would go with LC myself but have never tried the 4*. Maybe I'll try them next time. I'm not sure how the colors go for 4* but for LC the blue is a little softer than the gray and is ideal for liquid sealants and waxes.

6.5" pads for sure.

I have been using the CCS pads. I like them. I have never tried the 4*. I have tried the cobra cross groove and personally do not like them.

It can't hurt to try a couple different pads to see what you like.

It cannot hurt to have a couple cut (orange) pads, probably more polishing (white) pads than any other.. As far as finishing pads some grey could not hurt to have.

I assume the primary reason is that they are flat pad instead of the CCS type, right?

They are flat pads but they are also made with a different foam. The orange cutting pad and white polishing pad are made with European foam which is a little different than Lake Country's foam. I'm not going to knock Lake Country at all but I like how these foams perform.

Have you ever tried their 6.5in pads with a rotary?

Yes. They have performed well for me on any machine I have used them with.

I don't want to "sell" anyone on these pads however they are my favorite foam pads right now. Lake Country makes a great pad, so does Edge and some others, so I don't want to be recommending one over another (even though it looks like I am).

The fact is all of the pad makers I have mentioned make quality pads that perform well. At some point it becomes a matter of personal taste. Like saying Coke is better than Pepsi or blue cars look better than red ones.

The CCS pads are a perfect example of differing tastes or opinions. Do they perform better or worse than flat pads? Some say better because they make the buffer easier to control or allow you to work the product longer. Some say worse because with diminishing abrasives they handicap your polishing process by introducing trapped, un-broken down polish at the end of your polishing proceedure.

I can tell you that many detailers use the CCS pads and produce awesome results with them so to discount them based on what I mentioned above might be a mistake for someone wanting the best possible control of their buffer combined with a longer polishing time.

BTW. I know that Coke is better than Pepsi and blue cars are prettier than red ones so those might not be the best examples.:D
