Sorry if this is in the wrong spot...

We are getting ready to open on May 1 and we are throwing a bbq grand opening... but we are also trying to put out some flyers with promotions on them... we have a few suggestions but none that are finalized yet... is there anything that you guys (im a chick btw) suggest that will work without going too low in costs but still able to get attention...? tia

Im lost are you open a detail shop or to sell detail products.

How about something like a quick wash and wax at a good price - not a detail by any means, just something to get the cars looking good for a less expensive price.

:dcrules I agree, You need to get follks in tha door. MAYBE SOME THING LIKE A (HAND) WASH-N-WAX cars $55-suv$75clean windows, wipe downInterior and vacume(no paint corrections, just a simple wash-n-wax. This is all most people really want) Best of luck:cool::dcrules

we are opening a detail shop...

these are some of the ideas we got so far

1. Coupon Booklets for the 1st 10 customers
2. Free Regular Wash & Wax with the purchase of Fresh Air to go
3. Discount coupon for $5 off 50, $10 off 100, $25 off 200
4. Wash Books 50% off grand opening day only
5. Free odor elimination treatment with any wash.

Giveaways
1. first 25 customers to arrive enter to win a full detail (drawing)

besides all that we are having a bbq with free food... (one of the partners ideas) im not for free food but then again i dunno... we are in a heavy traffic area... like right at a stop light!!! so i dunno... its too cold in philly in the begining of may to be all up in bikinis... not too cold for some girls to give out flyers at the red lights but still... oh yeah not the safest intersection at that... there are 5 streets that come together...

All that sounds good, what is yalls company name? Radio station promotion? How about Page in a gorilla suit with a string bikini giving away poorboys samples.

:dcrules HERE'S ONE MY WIFE CAME UP WITH:She prints up sevaral "gift certificates" That already have a clients name on them.I give them to good clients in nice holder w/matching envolopes. That way when client has occasion to give a gift to someone he fills in name and it's all done.(everyone loves a clean car for gift) The client pays after G.F. is redemmened. WIN-WIN 4 ALL. I can't tell u how much$$$$ i've made this way.(just don't tell wife or she"ll want another pair of shoes.:rofl) Just a thought:cool::dcrules

Discounts of any sort is good..I would make that on full details....promo on car wash only is good...I would limit the amount of people that you have handing out flyers on a busy street, last thing you want is to distract a driver and have them crash...and the biniki thing is sending the wrong message...there are plenty of ladies that pay for car cleaning and might be offended by that....

If you have a place that you can rent one of those canvas figures...like you see at car lots a giant gorilla or something like that...its a good attention getter....people notice that from a distance and wonder what's going on...a figure on the top of your shop will attract attention!:D

Give a-ways or raffles are excellent...people love being able to win something...the food is also a good idea..keeps them at your location longer....jumpy jumps for the kids...again you are trying to keep them there longer...spread out the raffle give aways..and use a bull horn to announce it...I know this all sounds funny and circus like but that's what gets people attention and what the media likes to cover!

Give away logo t-shirts or stickers for windows

Car wash club by the month see about getting people to sign up and pre-pay for X amount of car washes.

Have you done a press release to the local newspapers and tv stations???

Its worth the time to see if they will give you a spot or plug.

We havent gotten into any major types of promotions yet... but one of the local radio stations is willing to sell our gift certificates for 1/2 off... but im still iffy on that... thats a big loss... even though its limited to 50 certificates still... thats $1250 for the certificates and then a loss of $1250... so i dunno how worth it that really is... the certificates are limited to one per customer per visit... so ehh maybe not to bad...

as for our name we are attatched to a dealer so we were asked to keep the same name... so nothing special "feretti auto detail"

Don't know where you are locate at but if you are close to atkinsonair and me we will come if you have some Hooters wings:rockon and Hooter Girls washing the cars. I will donate some money for the "Grand Opening"

And i forgot :welcome: to DC forums some of us are a little  around hear but all in all we have a good time.

Promotions have never been my strong point.

I have found the main thing people want is to feel comfortable and confident that they have made a good choice when they choose you or your company. Price is most important to some but those shouldn't be your target customer. Let them go to the local scratch-o-matic.

The reason I mention this is your promotions should reflect your goals with the business. I would rather see you include extras that are really attractive and make it sound like you want to show off what you can do for them. Don't cheapen your services if you can help it.

I haven't always been this way but I'm at the stage now where if I'm gonna give someone a "deal" it's gonna be an extraordinary deal so they feel like you did them a favor and now they owe you some referrals.;)

I said all of this assuming you don't want to be a low cost detail shop that gives mediocre service because that's all the customer can or will pay for. I've seen a lot of these kinds of shops when I used to run a chemical supply truck. None of these people were happy in their trade and they were always broke. There is a market for it though and some of them are still in business today but that doesn't appeal to me at all.

One more thought. If you feel the need to discount to get some business, target someone that can give you some steady work. I know you probably are doing at least some work for the dealer where you are, but get them to refer you to other dealers if you can. Dealers are cheap for the most part but if you sell yourself right they can be a good source of steady work even in these times. Just throwing that out there. I know I have made some good money doing dealer work in the past but I wouldn't rely on it.
