Products per general cleanup?

CharlesW

The Rainmaker
Reading Reddwarf's thread about "One less product" got me thinking.
How many products do you use for a wash and interior cleanup?
The one you do each week!
My usual stash I need to haul from the basement to the garage in the cold weather.

1. Wash product which would be either S&W or a rinseless wash. Not both.
2. Bold N Bright for tires
3. NXT or Meguiar's Detailer Line glass cleaner
4. Natural Look or 303 for vinyl, plastic, coated leather
5. Meguiar's APC mixed 10:1 for carpet/cloth upholstery

Chances are I could skip some items/steps occasionally, but I usually do the tires, glass, mats, interior, every wash. That way I don't have to keep track of when I last did them. :)

So... How many products do you people use for just a general cleaning.

Brushes, towels, vacuum are in the garage already.

I use:
APC for tires, rims, wheels + brushes
SS+S + 2 Wash mitts
S+G + WW
QD+ and 2 DMMTs
BnB + Eagle one quick swipe
No dressing inside just a quick wipe to get the dust off

My current list:

Wash: 1z Perls, ONR, Mothers, DG901
Tires Cleaning: Soap (first), APC if necessary
Tire Dressing: Mothers Reflections Tire Care (nice), du jour Tire Foam (hurry)
Wheels: Mothers Chrome Polish (maybe 4x per year)
Tires: Soap or APC (DG and now have Meg's too)
Wheel Wells: Clean with soap or APC. Dress with Adam's Undercarriage (good mood) or Spray tire shine (AA/Meg's Hot Shine) in hurry
Interior Plastics-Clean: 1z Cockpit Premium (special mood), Meg's QID, APC, or even ONR
Exterior Plastics: PB's Trim Restorer (backup Mothers Back to Black)
Interior Plastics-Dressng: 303/Optimum
Glass: Exterior - Sprayway or Stoners. Interior - Surf City/Stoners
Cloth: Spot cleaning with Resolve or APC cleaner
Leather: 4 Star Leather Cleaner and Conditioner (usually every 3 months)
Plastic Chrome: Mothers Cleaner Wax (a use for those 4 oz bottles that comes with clay)

My original post has been edited a little. :)
I was meaning just for a weekly wash and vacuum.
(Which for me includes what I listed above)

Do you guys actually use all those products and do all those things every time you wash your vehicle?

Yup this is what i use for my quick wash

SS+S + 2 Wash mitts
S+G + WW

It was surprising to me that you used both Spray & Gloss and QD+ at every wash.

If I do a Spray & Wipe wash, I don't usually follow it with anything.
Very rarely, I might follow up with Dura Gloss Aqua Wax, but the S&W seems to leave the finish looking good so that's where I usually stop.

Occasionally, I will use Dura Gloss Aqua Wax during the first drying pass with a rinseless wash, but there again, it doesn't seem to really be needed.

Every wash:

Wash: 1z Perls, ONR, Mothers, DG901
Tires Cleaning: Soap, use APC only if necessary
Tire Dressing: Mothers Reflections Tire Care (nice), du jour Tire Foam (hurry)
Interior Plastics-Clean: 1z Cockpit Premium (special mood), Meg's QID, APC, or even ONR
Glass: Exterior - Sprayway or Stoners. Interior - Surf City/Stoners

I do the wheel wells every other wash...too many for you? My list looks long since I have multiple choices on my shelf. I do not use an APC unless there is a lot of dirt.

Not too many at all, but even if I thought it was, the important thing is what you like to use.
You have the tires listed twice so you actually use about the same number of products, (5), I use.
Different uses and products though.
I don't feel I need anything but the Bold N Bright to both clean and dress the tires and you don't feel the need for a carpet/mat cleaner.
I do the wheel wells with the wash solution and finish with the BnB.

I fixed the tire being mentioned twice. Opps. It was not because I like to do it either.

Tell me more about BnB for wheel wells. It is a liquid?

I am running low on DG901 (maybe 1 wash left) so I may be shopping for something else soon to try since I like to alternate.

I should added I usually do all the jams now with ONR at QD strength.

It was surprising to me that you used both Spray & Gloss and QD+ at every wash.

Charles this will extend the durability of the LSP and make the next cleaning easier ... but seeing that you apply a LSP every 4-5 weeks it really won't matter too much for you ;)

:rofl
I had to laugh at the comment about running out of car wash solution. I probably have enough shampoo, S&W, ONR, 4 in 1 on hand to do all three cars for a year or two, maybe longer.
Unfortunately, that is also true with paint cleaners, polishes, waxes/sealants, QDs and protectants. :wall
The only thing in short supply is BnB, down to a little more than 16 oz., but another quart is supposed to deliver tomorrow. (Another gallon of S&W, too :))

Good point.
I do occasionally use a spray wax to add a little after a wash, but I don't really find it necessary for looks or durability with the short time, as you mentioned, that I need my LSP to last.

One thing that helps keep my work easier is doing it all every week. I try to never let the vehicles get truly dirty unless I have to be in some severe conditions. If they are dirty, I wash them. If they have anything on the floor, I vacuum. I even wipe the engine compartment down with a damp towel after each wash. :notme:
It's a heck of a lot easier to keep one clean than it is to clean one up after it is really dirty.

I have plenty of 1z, ONR, and some Mothers but willing to try something new. I do like that cherry scent of DG901 (some hate it) and the fruity smell of Mothers. Maybe I need to add scents to ONR...

For me
wash: SS&S OR NXT
followed by a wipe down w/ either S&G or QD+
wheels: APC if needed or get my regular wash
tires: BnB
interior: NL when needed

Charles, I'm glad I was your muse. This is an interesting post.

For every wash I consistently use:

Auto soap (I don't have 1 that I always use, rather several that I alternate)
PB S&W
ARO
Pinnacle Black Onyx Tire gel
Chem Guys Bare Bones
PB Natural Look
Surf City Glass Cleaner or Stoners IG
PB S&G (not every wash, but often)
