The problems accessing the site

No, you cannot type it in like that. It is:

ipconfig /all

With a space between the ipconfig and the /all. If it scrolls off of the window, you then would type in:

ipconfig /all | more

then hit your space bar to continue to the next page. The | symbol is the one with the back slash, usually right above the Enter key.

maybe you should contact Troy ;)

black bart, your DNS server is your router or DSL modem, to get the DNS server, you need to go into your router's setup screen. And it should be your ISP's DNS servers. If I remember from an earlier post you did, you are on DSL. Any who, when ever you are having trouble accessing the site, your DNS server has the wrong web site IP address. You could try this the next time you are having problems accessing the site, retry rebooting your modem and if you have a router, reboot that one too. To do this, turn the modem off or unplug it. If you have a router, then turn it off. Count 10 seconds, turn the modem back on, wait till all of the lights light up, then turn your router on. Reboot your computer. Then try accessing the site.

A lot of hoops to jump through there. :passout:

I also want to mention to try clearing your temp internet files again and do a reboot. Some of you might not have tried that since before the old server address was deleted.

Chances are, all these changes to my computer and my internet access are safe, but I really don't want to screw up things with all these "fixes".
So far, I think I have tried about a half dozen remedies that were supposed to make things work and access to the site is still very sporadic.
Since everything else I do on-line seems to work fine, I think I will leave things alone and just try to stop by occasionally. If I can get to the forum, great. If I can't, then that's the way it will be.

Great. Here I thought we had fixed it. I will bug the host site again and see if they can come up with some explanation.

With no changes on my end.
Yesterday, no access early so I gave up. Access was there early evening, not there at 10:30 PM,
No access early today, access late today.
Obviously, access now.
Weird. :wall

FWIW, 20 minutes later, no access, an hour later, I can get back on.

I wonder if it is backbone related. I have time warner and have not seen any issues recently. I saw issues a while back but not recently..knock on keyboard.

I was referring to the master distribution networks across the country. I am just wondering if specific isp's (like Tim Warner) have particular problems. Each ISP taps into them at various connections so maybe one specific connector (I would guess a super router) is having issues. I have seen connection issues with various web sites in the past but just not recently.

Now I know what a backbone is. :D
My service is Mediacom and I have no idea how anything works. I just click on things or hit enter. :)

I might "buy" the solution that Bunky suggested but I'm not having ISP related problems with the exception of viewing DC. It's kind of like saying Linux is better than Windows so change OS's. If I were having broad no access or outage problems then it would be a different story. I don't have any other problems and have to wonder if by making changes for the sake of doing so I would be inviting other unknowns into the equation. I still believe that given time the real problem will surface.

I did get a server not found error last night for about 5 minutes. It seemed funny since I was actively working and then closd the browser window. I selected the DC url and got the error.
