Poorboy's detail - Black Cadillac STS - kind of pic heavy

This is my buddy’s car who, I also play soccer with. My family and I went to his wife’s parent’s cottage in Canada this summer (how I got the Ricardo clay). I do not know what year the STS is, but I believe it is a 2006.

After our soccer game on Saturday, we went to our club to have some beers to help celebrate our victory. Heck – we go to the club to drinks beers even after we lose.
There are only a few before pictures due to the fact that I had the camera setting wrong after my soccer game. Notice the blue 350Z in the picture (last weekends’ detail).

I took the car home (Saturday night at 9:00) and started my process:

Washed SS&S – two bucket method
Ricardo clay – S&W mixed 50/50 with water

Sunday morning

PC and Flex
SSR 2.5 with LC CCS light cut pad – orange x 2 when needed (which was most of the car)
SSR 1 with LC CCS polishing pad – white
EX-P x 2 - MF applicator pad dampened with water

Wheel wells PB’s B&B
Tires – Armor all Extreme Gel
Shop Vac interior & wipe down with PB’s NL

I tried to do my best of the pictures of the polishing stages. Also I believe this job called for a rotary and wool pad. Is it me OR does this Cadillac have an extremely hard clear coat. It just seems like I was not going to remove 100% of all the swirls with out going x 4 on the SSR 2 and quite frankly I did not have the time.

Before and only a few due to picture size.

After a few photos in the driveway, I pulled the car into the street on the curb and took pictures of one side in the sun (for the “sun photos”) and then turned the car around for the other side “sun photos”. Sorry the sun was going down. Here they are

Tremendous improvement Trent :bow and I definitely would have used a rotary if I had seen those swirls and scratches :yikes: ... do they drive through bushes or wash with brillo

Thanks guys - This one was a challenge.

Steve - Regarding the rotary - would you reccomend the PFW pads (or what kind of wool pads) or light cut foam for those swirls?

usually you can just use the orange light cutting pads and let the heat generated from the rotary and product do the work ... wool often requires an extra step ( and if you do use wool, use real not synthetic) as it is almost impossible not to leave a holograms behind.

Thanks :bigups

Do you guys think all of that marring could be from drive-thru car washes?? So much correction needed on such a young car. Very nice job!

Beautiful turn around.

I heard GM vehicles have pretty tough clearcoat. Did you find this to be the case?

Thanks - and yes that was one of the things I brought up in the write up - I asked if the Caddy's had an extremely tough clear coat. This must be the case.
