Need some feed back on site update

:bigups
Looks good to me, but I didn't have any problem with the old site. :)
This one might have a more modern appearance, but that's just fancy packaging and isn't needed. :D

The glitz does have a lot of appeal to lots of people.

I like it. The words in the header are definitely easier to read. It also doens't look quite as "busy" as the current page.

I like the pic of the guy hugging the car.... but you may want to think about a clean shiney car pic instead.

Other than that, very nice.

I like it alot. It seems to be a little cleaner than the current site, in the fact that it seems more professional. The colors and header go together very well.

Steve,

You asked, so here goes...

Your site appears to be targeting primarily those of us who already know and love your products. You may wish to really redesign the site, possibly with two user groups in mind:

1. the car owner / do-it-yourselfer who likes to keep his car clean, but is not aware that the tunnel wash is damaging his finish. He has heard of buffing, but not outside the context of a body shop. He does not really understand the difference between polishing, sealing and waxing.

Give him some choose and click options showing how to wash a car and what products will help; polishing, machine vs. hand and simple instructions and product suggestions; LSPs and microfiber; tires and wheels; interiors, etc.

2. the experienced car guy whose detailing knowledge is dated or who is not familiar with your product line. I'm always surprised to learn how little my car restoration/car show/hot rod/muscle car/biker buddies know about paint and detailing. I think that this group represents an untapped market for you.

my two cents from a very non-marketing guy.

NO I don't miss it.
All those things are just a distraction.
The new site allows a person to find what they are looking for much easier.:)

Providing they know what they are looking for.......

I'm starting to think John Henery's idea of segregating products into type of use may be a great idea.

You may be right but when I mention Poorboy products to people when they are thinking about detailing their car and they say what is that.

Those who are into detailing know about it most of the others will not be visiting the web site they have never heard of PB products.

They don't know their is anything other than what is on the shelf at Wal-mart.
Recently I suggested to a friend that he put DG 105 on his van because I knew he would not touch it till next summer when it gets warm.
He when to Wal Mart and bought Meguiars Gold Class wax.

I know I mention PB on forums like bimmerfest and bimmerforums, so people who just want to make their car look nice may happen onto PB site.
That being said.
IMHO
If the site were compartmentalized or segregated if you want a wheel cleaner it would be under a section called tires and wheels. Clik that and then you find spray and rinse, and you will also see bold and bright and wheel sealant in the same section, so you may get a double hit or better.

Yes I agree I was talking about the lose of the picture but I like a site like what you are suggesting.

Effectively advertising the brand to draw more site views is a different, equally important, matter.

Organizing the site in an informative, attractive, easily navigated way is presumably the subject of this thread.

Steve, you certainly know a lot more about this subject than I do. However, I see the current PoorboysWorld.com as a distributor oriented site, as opposed to a more "retail," consumer site.

OK, that's a total of four cents. I'll shut up.

Charles that has been the response i have gotten from most over the last few years and the reason i haven't changed it much since the first revision:)

I agree.. it's a bit cleaner:cool:

I think it's a cute picture and many car lover can relate to it;)

I agree here too:rockon

I'm not into flashy sites where a lot of moving stuff slows the movement of the site, and yes it is catering to those who have experience in detailing. We do have a link to our detailing forum for anyone looking for tips or more understanding of how to use the products:)

2. the experienced car guy whose detailing knowledge is dated or who is not familiar with your product line. I'm always surprised to learn how little my car restoration/car show/hot rod/muscle car/biker buddies know about paint and detailing. I think that this group represents an untapped market for you.

I couldn't agree more about some long time enthusiasts that I meet at shows or club meetings that have either little knowledge or some very old fashion approaches :bow

my two cents from a very non-marketing guy.

They are two very good cents;)

Providing they know what they are looking for.......

I'm starting to think John Henery's idea of segregating products into type of use may be a great idea.

I have considered this is the past, but many people come to the site after hearing about a certain product and want to go directly to that product. Grouping seem to work best on sites that carry multiple brands:hmmm:

NO I don't miss it.
All those things are just a distraction.

Absolutely it is much cleaner, not sure if the customers who get a kick out of seeing their car on the home page will agree, but it is much easier to read:inspector:

This is also very true.. we do not get too many visits from non-detailing people ... in fact even at shows, people who are not into cleaning their vehicles don't bother stopping by unless they have a problem and they couldn't solve it with the products they purchased at a local autoparts store or Walmart:bigups

It is very possible and we may have to see:idea

Yes I agree I was talking about the lose of the picture but I like a site like what you are suggesting.

Yes I see your point

I always have the hardest time finding items i am looking for on that site.

Sorry had to delete the link to that site

John you are partially right ... ease of navigation is the main thought that went into the site. Yes, as the manufacturer our long term plans are to shift most if not all of our retail business to our distributors... at the present moment 90% is wholesale and 10% is retail.:)

No need to apologize to me Steve.
I am not the one who posted it. I was just quoting him and saying that the site he linked to is hard to find things at unlike your site which is always a breeze to find things and visit
