This one took a while. This was a chalky white nasty camry. Found that it is a base coat paint job with no clear coat. 2002 model year and never been waxed. I took some good advice and washed with dawn to cut some of the scum off.clay magic clay.meguiars piant cleaner next,(took forever). Cyclo with orange LC pads and C.A.S. finnessing compound. I was going to use white pads with megs show car glaze but cust had a time deadline so I did'nt have time so I just hand applied megs gold class wax. I was'nt thrilled with the shine but the customer was. I can't wait to be able to order some poorboys stuff to try, money too tight now. Can anyone suggest some good PB products to get first? Thanks,Dave

Bug Squah,SSR 1+2.5, NATTYS red and blue, propolish ,super slick suds, POLISH WITH SEALANT, APC, spray and wipe, along with the elastic clay. Ive got more but these are what I USE ALL OF THE TIME. Theree may be something else out there that is as good but the service and reccommended proceedures are outstanding. FAST SHIPPING!!!! That reminds me Ive got to ordersome stuff too.

No clear...really?

Did the pads turn white while using the compounds?

The work looks great..one thing about white as long as you get the car real cleaning...it will come out great

Unless it's an aftermarket repaint, it has a clearcoat. I went round and round after hearing the Toyota white paint is a single stage paint before I finally talked with someone within the Toyota company (Southeast Toyota) who informed me 100% that their paints use a clearcoat. I was told Toyota does not paint a vehicle today that does not have a two stage paint on it. I don't remember what I was told about Lexus, or if I even asked, but I was assured Toyota didn't use a single stage system.

Definitely try out the Bug Squash if you live in an area where bugs are an issue.

This car showed no signs of a re-paint, (I was a tape and sand boy once). Ths car definately had no clear coat. Yes, Pads were turning white. Thanks for your advice. I did spend a few hours with the paint cleaner and The car did come out "superwhite"

As far as PB's products, try the Bug Squash, Spray and Wipe and Black Hole. Everything I have used from PB is top notch.

From the pictures - the car looks like it turned out excellent.

Definetely Bug Squash - maybe PwS and some Natty's. 2.5 and pro polish.

that is very odd :hmmm: I wonder if there was maybe a dealer repaint due to some damage in shipping.. all newer toyotas have clear as far as i know and my mother in law has had about 4 (various years all in white) and I've had to do some work on all of them:idea

ps.. If the customer is happy :yaythen you have to be happy too ;)

these are a good selection for starting out :)

I recently did a 2003 White Corolla. Single stage paint positively and went through FIVE pair of orange Cyclo pads. It looked like they were soaking in a bucket of milk when all was done. I don't care what Toyota said this was SS paint. Car purchased new by owner, no repaint, no accidents.......and no wax either!

The Camry came out very nice. I'm sure the owner was pleased.

As an aside, one thing I think I learned while researching all the single stage paint info was that when regional sellers (such as SE Toyota) buy vehicles from Toyota and they become damaged is that the regional seller can repair them and then send them on to the local dealerships without ever letting anyone know. So basically, you have a new Camry that comes off a shipping boat/truck damaged, the regional seller has them repainted, and no one knows the difference - not even the local dealerhsip.

I don't know how true this holds, but if I recall correctly someone at SE Toyota Dist. told me this. then again, it has been four years or so since I was trying to find all this out.

Yup...I concur with what he said. Yet...I would like to add the new QD+ to the mix. It is proving to me to be a very good product as well.
