2008 Black BMW 328i Vert

My father just purchased this car and straight from the dealership it has alot of paint imperfections like swirls on the hood and door panels. BMW probley took it through a car wash. I have tried my Porter Cable on the car with Menzerna Compound and Menzerna Polish but cannot get rid of these. Is it just time for me to invest in a rotary or am I doing something wrong? I used a orange cutting pad and a white polishing pad but its seems like these imperfections are so deep the pads are not even coming close to them. Suggestions?
 
Is it Jet Black or Black Sapphire Metallic? Can you post a pic of the paint? It would help us give you advice. My car is BSM (JB is soft paint, BSM is not) and I use to use a PC for correction and had no issues.

Have you tried the 'fingernail' trick with the scratches? If you can catch a nail in them, they are too deep for a PC.

I would try SSR 3/2/1 with your PC before going with the rotary. Don't get me wrong - in the long run the rotary is best (IMHO), but there is a learning curve and you can do some serious damage.

I had a really neglected black Accord that I restored with a PC and Poorboys.
 
I agree with free.

The PC needs more passes and patience but IMO I think you can achieve great results with some PB SSR 2.5 and work your way down.

But pics would definitely help!
 
Not to dis your abilities, but before buying a rotary and going to town on a brand new black vehicle, and risking even more damage, I would highly recomend seeking a local professional

I will plus one on this....a rotary is a great tool but in the hands of someone that has not used one...you can do more harm than good....I have a suggestion you need to go back over the car with same pad and product combo but work the area real well...it won't take all the swirls out but will improve them...then I would use a glaze like PB BH to mask what's left...its what I do on some details
 
+2 on this as well. If you are not careful the car will end up worst then it is now. I would also try going over the area again with the Menzerna compound and the orange pad, going real slow and really working the product in.

Like Dave said, in the end not everything is going to come out, even with a rotary.

My brand new 08 BMW is not the place where I would want to learn how to use a rotary.

You could look for a local professional or may if you listed where you are from in your profile there might be a member here that could be local to you who is already comfortable with a rotary to help you out.
