Clay-bars are now Obsolete

I imagine when you say it cuts your detail time in half is because you can just easily rinse it off...have you found it as strong as clay? Is it as effective, or do you find yourself working on an area alittle longer.
No,I would'nt say at all that I work any longer in one spot I would say that my quality of clay has gone up because it always stays flat. so w/ a good shearing lube its minimal effort once you "break it in".While the other guys in the shop are scared of marring they work twice as hard because of how the clay works absorbing the fallout etc...I can hear the clay scratching the surface many times w/ it staying flat(clay sponge) at all times it allows you to cover more space (that I see) my clay jobs are quicker than the other guys(at work) and I cover more space it works great for us taller guys working on the tops of cars,suv,trucks..etc the just as strong......

as clay i used it for several over sprayed vehicles including one large Expidition and it worked great, also used it on carbon fiber air intake as well.thanks:dcrules Its my First choice but break it in first. How you say go very light w/ it at first then as you fell the lube working slightly increase the pressure you'll fell the ease and then your ready.DWG:thanks

Looks like clay bars are going to become obsolete. :)
I think I'm ordering one of these.:yay
Hi-Tech Body Sponge

A friend of mine tested one of those for a company and he doesn't like it. It is not as effective as clay. It has its uses but a side by side comparison on a hood will prove that clay removes the contaminates more effectively.

I use the one (sponge)from CG and it was OK, but i still like my clay. I first saw claying in Japan when i was station for a few months there (1988) and i was blow away on what it did. Had to wait for the early 90's to see it in the states.

welp, as I read this I thought to my self that seems smart lemmie try well I tried it on thye worst of vehicles a overspray nightmare:passout: black denali 07 type.I had some intesting results while I had to use LIFT OFF the Graffiti remover (the other types melt the clay and this one wont) The regular old Blue clay Magic was far more effective on really bad areas the sponge was far less work and more effective in lighter areas.

Conclusion the Clay bar was more effective on more difficult areas while the sponge was much smother and quicker(but had to wipe off vehicle) in not so bad areas. as strong as clay NO thats my two cents DWG(so will I go back to regular clay? Nah we dont do alot of vehicles like that and my clay times are faster than everybody in the shop and I like to clay everything and once you Break in the sponge its really smooth just keep a clean chamois and wipe it off every so often if you do do the sponge)DWG(and you can clay w/ lift off but dont let it sit too long on wipers as it will build up and you'll have to buff it off and it will stain door handels if you dont wipe it off after the over spray is off.
