10000 dollar detail

Lets hope that these $10k details are a growing trend !!! :yay

Truthfully,

I believe that the carnubu wax he uses is from an extinct carnubu bush that only grew in the Amazon rain forest over 1000 years ago. It was the only known bush in existence, and the finding of this last remaining bush was featured on the National Geograpic channel. He is known to clean glass with the most purified water on earth, and this water is featured in the Guiness book of world records as being 100% pure H20. Each strand of carpet is individually cleaned to a level of 99.9% free of contamination, and is tested to be free of all bacterias. The leather is treated with a undisclosed substance that reverses any signs of aging to the hide...

We can have a lot of fun with this, but seriously I hope this pricing is a growing trend !!!

I had a Lambo owner this year complain to another customer about my high prices !!! JEEEZ !!!

Would you consider this a super car because I do a Nattys Blue treatment to this twice a month never charging more than $100.

And that about sums it up.

Seriously, I don't understand the negativity anytime this guy's brought up. Maybe he's not the best detailer out there (in your, humble of course, opinion), but he's obviously doing something right. maybe there's something that could be learned from the man.

I agree you can't fault this guy for his marketing ability...I'm more than convinced that given the time, proper equipment and all that, there are quite a few members here that could do this level of work...However you are right anyone of us could learn from this guys marketing sense

....and I will throw in a special engine sealant at that cost...
:rofl:rofl yeah, but this other detailer said he'd apply a teflon fortified polymer based pure white carnuba enhanced wax onto my Pierce Arrow that would last over year for only $149.00...

...he's working on a 200k+ car. The percentages equal out to me doing a 150.00d detail on a 6000 Neon. There's lot's of risk too. He also spends 20+ hours on them and they are flawless.
As to justifying the exzuberant pricing because of the risk, time, or cost to worth value IMO I say poppycock. I've worked on prototype phosfluorescent paints, prototype vehicles, full scale mock-ups, pre-production vehicles, as well as restorations any of which were valued in the millions (some even came with 24/7 security); all having to be done perfect not for what you and I may see, but for what an 8x10 studio camera shooting 24ASA slide film would see. I'm not in any way dissing his apperant abilities, I can see how it would take 20+ hours to detail a vehicle -- I've had to spend 32MH's doing a Black pre-production Infinity for an mutli layer overhead shot -- what I am dissing is the hype in pricing. I cannot see anyone shelling out that kinda $$$ period. Look into his site and you will uncover that an average detail is (if i remember right) 350-450GBP or in todays value about 716-920USD -- this kind of pricing is more believable and I can see someone paying this -- heck, I've received more than that for doing a show car prep. It brings back memories of someone from the past I think he went by Dean -- his detail philosphy was simple if everyone else was charging $200 I'll charge $400 see because if I am charging double what everyone else is charging than they'll believe I'm twice as good.... hmm yeah we all could learn allot from this :)

I imagine that his insurance must be through the roof...one little mix up with a rotary and good bye paint...

--^ In the US, that would be considered "professional negligence" which would not (under most insurances) be covered. I'll explain as it was explained by my insurance agent... as a professional, one should know and take steps to avoid such errors. It would be like using bleach on red carpet. If however, the vehicle was backed into a wall, or a ladder was to fall on the vehicle, or the buffer was to slip out of your hand and cause a scratch; these would be covered (the latter being some what questionable though). It may be different on the other side of the pond though.

Never mind the S#$% eating grin.

You'll be grinning when you see it covered in foam!

I've had Neon owners tip me 50.00 on top of a 100.00 detail and Corvette (Z06) owners complain about a 75.00 wash/wax/vac!

It's all about finding the right customers that will pay for your name. You know, like we do for boutique waxes when most over the counter will work fine. So who are the suckers now?
