10000 dollar detail

yeah there are a few threads on this already. He is from England, Paul something don't remember his name. His process is very detailed and I know he works on one car for a week, and has alot of tools at his disposal that I don't have. Although thats easy to do when you have people willing to shell out that kind of money. Which I guess you need when you are buying wax for over $5000.

I believe his name is Paul Dalton. I have read on another forum that he is soon to introduce his own line of detailing products on 2008.

i have no doubt i can match his work no problem.. no disrespect intended but once you get your process/ products down its just a matter of doing your best

Ron I like your self-confidence

Its been posted before but product is 10% process is 90%....the more that I detail the more true this is.

This guy has developed a high end market of cars...you have to admire him for that...and for those that want the high end products, like he uses and think they can get the same results he will make them available

I would like to go up against him as well...

but instead of him getting a Buggati thats worth god knows what and is never driven in bad weather and has hardly anything wrong at all, instead we do a minivan with four kids worth of junk in it thats been washed with a scotch brite pad and some bleach...

I agree I think there are alot of us who could do just as good a job for alot less money...

I can't help but be jealous of this guy in a good way !!! He has convinced his customers that his detailing is improving their cars to a level that is equivalent to his price. Unfortunately, no matter how well you detail a car as soon as the car is driven even under the most optimum of conditions the automobile will be subjected various forms of contamination. How clean can a tire, wheel, fenderwell, or any forward facing surface stay if the car is driven?

What do you do after a $10k detail?

Wrap it in a air tight bubble, seal it and then place it in a museum?

I have to hand it to him !!! I have been fortunate enough to have detailed some pretty rare and exotic cars, but I have yet to meet an owner that would part with 10 large for my services !!!

Paul Dalton is the man in my book !!! :rockon

He is the Zig Zigler of selling detailing services !!!

I went through his site, and IMO, he ain't all that -- I can't recall seeing any vehicles shot outside in direct sunlight. IMO it's alot of media and hype. Having had the privilage of detailing a Pebble Beach Concourse best in show winning, black vehicle -- I know exactly what it takes to get it done right the first time without an overly priced jar of wax. In fact, I did it with over the counter (albeit bodyshop) products in less than 10 hours. If I could find one sucker -- or more eloquenty put someone ignorant enough to shell out $10k for a "detail" I too would have all the fancy chatchkies to put together the show...

Maybe the Beatles sung it best... it might even be a nice background song for a $10K detail video commercial or for a product line infomercial...

"If you want it here it is come and get it
but you better make your mind up fast
If you want anytime I can give it
But you better hurry because it may not last
Did I hear you say that there must be a catch
Would you walk away from a fool and his money
If you want it here it is come and get it
But you better hurry 'cause its going fast
If you want it here it is come and get it
but you better make your mind up fast
If you want it anytime I can give it
but you better hurry 'cause it may not last
did I hear you say that there must be a catch
Would you walk away from a fool and his money
Sonny!
If you want it here it is come and get it
But you better hurry because its going fast
you better hurry 'cause its going fast
ooooooooooooo fool and his money
SONNY
if you want it here it is come and get it
but you better hurry 'cause its going fast you better hurry cause its going fast
you better hurry 'cause its going fast"

So I'll repeat it; any time any place -- I'd be up for the challenge!! bring him on -- mano e mano!!

Lets do two daily driven police cars pulled from the LA Rampart divisions fleet and lets put a 24 hour time limit on the job. Lets also see what the vehicles look like in a month.

I'm also arrogant enough to add that after we go head to head, he'll never get $10K for a detail again!!

You are right...I am jealous...I want 10,000 for a detail...

He gets this price on super cars. Guys, he's working on a 200k+ car. The percentages equal out to me doing a 150.00d detail on a 6000 Neon. There's lot's of risk too. He also spends 20+ hours on them and they are flawless. I talk with him a lot via email and actually once on the phone. To me he's just an awesome marketing genius and I know of 50+ detailers that would love to have his business.

... awesome marketing genius ...

And that about sums it up.

Seriously, I don't understand the negativity anytime this guy's brought up. Maybe he's not the best detailer out there (in your, humble of course, opinion), but he's obviously doing something right. maybe there's something that could be learned from the man.
