Washing in cold weather

God I would love to live in Florida right about now...it the New England area the sky is overcast and grey straight through March... even if its sunny out, its still grey.

I knew you guys would laugh at me. :snow:
Hey, I'm sure not laughing.
1. The forecast was for a few flurries, we got 4" of snow.
2. The outside temperature was 32* with a forecast high of 39* when I washed the van in the garage. Heated to above 50. :)
3. When I finished the van, the temp was 27* and the flurries were getting pretty heavy. It did get back up to 30 by late afternoon so shoveling that 4" of snow wasn't too bad. :notme:
The following is from one of our local TV stations that really brags about how good they are with their forecasts.
Yesterday's storm system moved in several hours ahead of schedule, slid about 60 miles further northwest than anticipated, and dumped the bullseye on the Des Moines metro area. The snowpack will help keep highs down today and allow our lows to drop into the teens tonight.
Not a word about the fact that they just plain missed it big time.
I've never decided if the political writers do the spin for the weather people or the weather people do it for the politicians. Either way, they are never wrong. :)

FWIW, The van is still in the garage and clean. That will probably change by the time I get to the end of the block, but that's nothing new.
Stupid old me, I'll do it again tomorrow. :)

Today is shockingly warm here like low 60's...of course its thanksgiving and I amnot sure I will have time to wash the cars...

im not laughing troy,ok maybe a little. But really, i know i couldnot handle the heat all summer. Im a spring fall kinda guy and the summer in florda would kill me

the weather has been fantastic here. yesterday we have a wonderull -10c or 14F. Yup you can be jelous. :D

and get some of those thin cotton gloves and wear them under dishwashing gloves, should keep your hands warmer while detailing

well after thanksgiving dinner since it was still unseasonably warm here I got out and washed both cars...felt good...

It's supposed to climb all the way back up to 36 tomorrow so I should get the van cleaned up in the afternoon.
Saturday, summer returns with 38* temps so the Grand Prix will get it then.
The snow should be gone and the streets will dry quickly. I can probably go for a couple of hours before I get splattered somewhere.

A quick trip to the coin-op followed by QEW in the garage. I make sure that I am wearing rubber boots. Cold wet feet are no fun at all. As I have grown older and finally developed some "smarts", I wash less often in cold weather. I am becoming sort of fond of the midwest gray that develops on vehicles during the winter. Charles -- when are you going to smarten up? :D

The coin-op and finishing in the garage is many times my process as well. The problems with that are:
Open the door to get the vehicle out - Any heat in the garage escapes.
Wash at the DIY - Get cold since it only has a door on one end. Seems to be the style here.
Drive home - Many times get some spray from the road or from other vehicles. The DIY is about two miles from my house.
Open the garage door to get the vehicle in - Any heat that didn't escape when getting the car out is now gone for sure. :)
Heat garage to comfortable working temperature - Just as well have done that to start with and done the whole process right here at home in my own garage.

Hey, whatever it takes to get rid of that midwest gray. :D

Unfortunately, my "smarts" have been rather slow to develop. In fact, my wife has about given up on it happening. :)
