The scam artists are back

The Rainmaker
A short time back, I mentioned that I didn't seem to be on the long lost rich relative lists or the money clearing list for out of the country investors.
Thanks to the power of the internet,
I'm receiving them again.:yay
4 of them in the past week. They must have read my post here on DC and felt sorry for me.
If they would offer me some detailing products, they might hook me. :D
I hadn't received 4 in the past year, then 4 in one week. Almost seems like too much of a coincidence.

Do you open these emails or just delete them?

Some can be in-coded so that if you open it to read...its can send back a message to the sender that you have done so...this indicates to them a level of interest....I worked for a spam company some months back and the stuff that I learned about spam was unbelievable...also one other thing is email generators they can take your email addy and it will come up with 100's to 1000's of similar versions of yours, then they blanket email those out....the ones that don't come back then go on the good list...originally spam was legit business looking to sell their products and services...today its anything but that...its a malicious way of getting your personal info...

One last thing is spam has a season, the holidays are a time that a lot of online shopping, reservations for restaurants and flights are made...spammers know this and play right into the unsuspecting...as this time of the year approaches be careful of any emails that you get...the spammers can make a email that looks like something from a legit business logos and all look real...all they have to do is change one small thing in the logo and that will sail right threw to you

I sometimes open them, but usually just delete them.
Some of them are interesting to read just for the unbelievable stories they tell.

I think that with Yahoo mail, blocking HTML graphics in the options stops the notification that a message has been opened.

I wish they would stop sending me those viagra/cialis and Rolex ads! I don't need them! :wall

Totally agree on the interesting reading part..as for blocking the HTML graphics that's something that is real hard to do...what I learned work with the anti-spam company...they can break up a logo into sections, then change only one part of that section and that makes it a whole different graphic...kind of hard to explain but its so tricky its unbelievable....I will have a look at a site for some article on this if you have interest

It's pretty easy in Yahoo mail. If it wasn't, I would never have figured out how to do it.
The Spam Protection area in the Mail Options section has a box to check that takes care of it. It blocks all images unless you allow them to open/show. I can check boxes, but that's about all. :D

we even get them in the snail mail. The latest one came from England with telephone number written in pen.

At least it had a personal touch. :)
Mine are very impersonal. All they really want to do is give me a bunch of money. I just can't bring my self to take their money without even getting to know them.

You know me. I wish you would respond back to me when i e-mail you. lol jk i haven't gotten one in a long time. I'm not so sure i want to say that but whatever lol.
