What is it about people that have garage sales? they can put up signs posted all over the neighborhood then a week later the signs are still hanging in the same spot!

Last weekend a one of the near by blocks had a huge sale....fluorescent orange signs all over the place, as far as many blocks away.....today most are still hanging in the same place...makes me want to take them down and place them at their door steps.

I think that if you do not take responsibility to take your signs down then you should be sighted for littering and fined.

Its not different than throwing them out the window, because they eventually fall off the post and have to be picked up by the city.

Sorry for the rant it just bothers me that people can be so irresponsible about this.

The yard sign people and those who can't put a cart where it belongs in a parking lot. Stopped by a Big Lots to check out any new detailing deals and some morons had left their carts just sitting around waiting to get shoved by other morons into a car. Plus some were only a few feet from the place where the carts are supposed to go.

I move the carts if they are anywhere near my parking space
 
Same thing in my area, Beemerboy. It is very irritating and cheapens the neighborhood.

As far as carts are concerned I always take one in to go grocery shopping and park two when I return.

That's what I am talking about...looks like crap...when we have had a GS...I hate having to go get them, but I always think that they have my address on it and if some cop wants they can come by and give me a ticket for littering
 
I see thing like that all the time and I'm convinced the reason behind behaviours like that is selfishness combined with ignorance.I can understand forgetting to remove a couple of signs out of 50 or so but can never believe the ignorance of those who leave their shopping car right in the middle of a parking lot,as a matter of fact I had a good size dent in the trunk of my old car and right behind the car there it was ,an empty shopping cart.

There are two signs on poles in the neighborhood here from the GS last weekend that can be seen from one of the houses that was in the GS...these people have been driving by the signs for almost a week now...go figure that one
 
Check your local laws. I am a planning comissioner in my city and we have some preety strict laws on signs. The problem with most cities is that nobody complains so nobody does anything. I agree that it cheapens the look of the neighborhood and usually ends up as litter on the streets. I would do something about it.

I usually don't like to be the S**t disturber of the neighbourhood but in a case like yours I would do something about it.
There will be more GSs in your neighbourhood and if nothing is done more signs will be left like that.

I called a buddy that works for the street division here in town and they are going to look into it...gave them the address of the signs in question...they will not use my name...but he did say that I wasn't the only complaint about this
 
In my city, there are by-laws regulating everything from the number of garage sales you can have per year to the size of the sign and where you can't post them.
If I were in your position, I'd call either the Police and ask to speak to someone in by-law enforcement or call city hall and ask to be directed to the person in charge of by-laws, if you weren't sure of the laws and didn't want to take an officer away from more important stuff to look up your question.
('Course, it looks like you already found somebody to look into it. ;) )
 
when I had my last garage sale ..someone was going around taking down the signs on the day of ...:mad:
I made some pretty good ones with lamination so that i could go back and get them and use them again...it is annoying seeing old signs past the date of the sale:rockon
 
Garage sales as well...I call the signs vampire stakes, that's what I want to do to the organisers with them. :wall
 
Yea round here the signs are put in the ground and will stay there forever :surrender...some people :hmmm::crazy:
