PC Problem

Mr Detailer
The other day I went to add the brush attachment to my PC and noticed it would not screw on pass the first couple threads. I thought perhaps I had stripped the threads on the brush somehow, or it had broke. So the I went to add my flexible backing plate and had a hard time putting that on as well.

I tried one more backing plate and while it did go on eventually, it was not easy. Has anyone had this or run into this problem? I am hoping I did not damage the PC but it seems like I may have inadvertently.

It does sound like you may have done some damage to the threads, but it might not be as bad as it first seems.

If you can find someone that has a tap & die set, they can use the die to clean up the threads on the spindle and it will probably still be usable.
It would also be a good idea to have them use a tap to clean up the threads in your backing plates and your brush at the same time. There's a good chance you damaged them a little when you tried to install them on the spindle. The brush may be where your problem started.
I personally wouldn't screw any of them on the spindle until I had the threads repaired.

uh oh.... sounds like you might have cross threaded it at one point and messed up a few things. I would second Charles' advice and see about getting the PC retapped. Look at the threads on your backing plate and you may see damage on those too. If any of your accessories are damaged from the threads inside the spindle of your PC then I would recommend against using those accessories on anybody else's machine until you repair them. If you have bad threads on your backing plate then you could cause damage to another PC with it.
