Presta Swirl Remover

Having used quite a lot of this product now...the one thing that I don't like about it is the sling factor...I'm talking about what gets into the cracks like the door jambs, trunk and the likes of that...its a royal pain to get out...however the results of the product continue to amaze me

I bought a Bottle of the Blue Polish the other day, and I agree that it takes alot of heat to get this stuff off. I used my PC and went over and over it and it really looked like the polish had completly broken down, yet it was really hard to take off.

Also I agree on the sling, if you missed some it hardens like a rock, but it leaves a nice surface with a deep finish.

Dave- 1500 is a %^&!# when it comes to sling, it's such a thin product that it's almost impossible not to get any... IMO

I'm really, really surprised that you folks are having trouble with SR gunking up, I've NEVER had that problem, even when working with it in the sun. I swear I'm virtually the only person that I know of that hasn't had any problems with it, strange...
SR I've never really had a problem with sling, it always performs great for me :bigups

You also switched to the Edge pads recently, right Dave? Maybe you're still getting used to 'em? :hmmm:

I've developed the sling OK but as you pass over the crack for the doors or truck...the product slings into that area...that's what I am talking about....its a bit more messy than others that I have used

from what I am seeing of this line you will not be disappointed

Just a bump to this... I just bought some of the 1500 polish and Ultra Cutting Creme Light... just not sure when I'll be able to try them out  ... but this thread will be helpful when I do...

Bud

This product needs heat so a rotary is what they are suggesting...if you use a PC....use very little and work that stuff until it disappears....I made the mistake of using the PC put to much on and talk about hard to get off.....I almost rewashed the car because I was having that hard a time....the results with the polish are really good...the swirl remover was one of the best that I have used to date...

Thanks, I'll have to do some experimenting. One thing I don't like is products being difficult to remove. I'll try to use them with the rotary only but I may have to do a test with the PC or UDM just for kicks.

You can test it with a PC...I did...howver after what felt like an eternity on speeds between 5 and 6 I still could not take it off with a MF towel.

no kidding that stuff was liked glued onto my car when I used the PC...but then I used to much product

Which is more aggressive the 1500 polish or the Ultra Cutting Creme Light?

I seem to have better results from the 1500 polish... both while working it, removing it and results. I have to admit, these products aren't bad at all...

I didn't get any dusting or holograms when I used these two polishes on my scrap hood (just got it ... '02 325I :)). I used it with a rotary and an orange light cut pad. I had a little trouble removing the Ultra Cutting Creme when there was a build up of it on the panel... but other than that it was nice to find another product to use.

Ultra Cutting Creme Light is more abrasive, but 1500 has a decent bite to it as well, I've had pretty good luck with it. It's the only product in the Presta line-up I have complaints about, IMO it's too thin and it always gunks up on me at some point. CCL is hands down my favorite product to work with, I've never had a complaint about it. IMO it removes defects quicker than most compounds, yet it still finishes off damn nice.
How much CCL are you using per panel? I generally use two small beads per panel, about as thick as a pencil and maybe 10-12" long? I've noticed I'm always using more/less of this product depending on the finish I'm working on, but it always gives great results and is great to work with.

Bud which other compounds do you use on a regular basis? I haven't found any others I like as much as CCL, I'd like to see which ones compare :)

Thanks for the info. I've only had a rotary for a little over a year now and usually use the Optimum line of polishes. They are very rotary friendly, IMO. As are the presta as I am seeing. I have yet to use them on a full car, just spots on the junk hood. I probably did a 6-8" line of product for half of the hood though... seemed to work fine. BTW I still have that T-Maxx if you are interested..

I've used OHC and OP, and honestly I didn't like HC at all, at least after I got Cutting Creme light. The only OP I've had was that lumpy batch that came out about 1.5 years ago and I haven't used it since, but I might pick up a bottle just for the fun of it.
