Interesting 303 information

The following is from a 303 Tech brochure discussing the use of 303 Protectant on vinyl.
"Since 303 contains a tested-safe-for-vinyl cleaner and is a cleaner and protector combined, precleaners and precleaning usually are not required."
I have used lots of 303, but never considered it a cleaner.

neither do i... if its really dusty or dirty i normally use a pre cleaner before i top it with 303 or pb's natural look but if its only a light coating of dust i may just wipe it down without pre cleaning and it comes out looking great

The Natural Look is advertised and sold as a cleaner/protectant and I have used it as a one step a few times. It seemed to work OK for that purpose, but I don't think the cleaning power is terribly great. It can't be easy getting a balance of cleaning and protecting in one product.

I concur Charles I have never brought into one step products...with vinyl I find that if you don't have it real clean the the protectant that goes on comes out splotch
 
I really don't count on any dressing to clean at all even if it says so. I clean before applying any dressing. That goes for 303 and PB Natural Look Dressing.
 
I clean before I dress as well. Process, Process, Process. Products come and go but the basic premise of my process stays the same.
 
I personaly always clean before I add dressing...if you don't you could have potentially shiney dirt.

So true. I tried to shortcut a process or two and have always ended up disappointed with the results... Like sealing before claying etc. Once your eyeballs have been trained it is tough if not impossible to shortcut certain processes.

First off, I have to say that the people at 303 are very helpful when you have questions. I have had several in the past 2 or 3 weeks and they humor me by answering them just like they were intelligent instead of indicating the total ignorance that is behind them.
The cleaning by 303:
1. 303 Aerospace Protectant doesn't contain a true cleaner.
2. The correct application method of getting the surface wet allows the deionized water that is the carrier for the protective polymer to do the cleaning. Deionized water does a decent job of cleaning on its own and since you "wet" the surface with the product and then wipe it completely off, this supplies the cleaning action. Body oils, sweat, dried soda, French fry smears, dust, are easily removed.

FWIW, there might be body oil, sweat or dust on my vinyl, but anyone that puts soda or French fries on it will be removed immediately. :D

At a minimum I have to at least wipe everything down with a damp microfiber. Usually, as long as I'm doing that I'll spritz the MF a few times with 303 Cleaner 30:1. Can't stand thinking about dust between layers whether removed by the protectant or not.
 
I actually find Armor All All Purpose Cleaner to be pretty nice. I use that first, then follow up with 303, Natural Look or Optimum Protectant Plus. The cleaners in those products I think are just mild enough to remove dust and the lightest of dirt/grime.

I always keep my french dries on the dash, doesn't everyone? :)
 
i use 303 for my interior and i would definitely always wipe the section down with diluted woolite + water before i apply the 303.

303 says that the protectant is for use on coated leather, but I still use a dedicated leather conditioner on mine fairly often. The conditioner may not penetrate the coating, but some of it has to seep through the stitching and the coating probably has some small cracks and wear spots that allow some of the conditioner to reach the leather. Besides, it makes me feel like I'm taking good care of my leather seats. :D

The Zymol leather conditioner says to heat the leather up first then apply. Maybe to open the pores and let the conditioner get in.
