Opti-Seal Streaks or Smears?

The Rainmaker
It seems that I'm one of the few that is having some streaking or smearing with this product.
I don't doubt in the least that it is a user problem and I would like to ask some questions so I can correct what I'm doing wrong.

1. The normal response to a person having my problem is that too much product is being used. That may well be my problem. On a white vehicle, it is very difficult for me to see just what kind of coverage I'm getting. Do you just spritz the applicator and do a section trusting that enough product is on the applicator. If I apply enough OS that I can see it, that seems to be too much.
I use a Handi-Grip foam applicator and "prime" it with one spray of OS at the start. Additional OS is sprayed on the applicator as I feel the need. I feel I am using very little of the product per vehicle, but I still see a few streaks/smears. Any tips?

2. If I see a smear on a section I have done, do I need to correct it immediately or does it tend to level itself out to some extent?

3. What is the best way to remove or blend the smear when I see one? Go over the area again with the OS or use a QD? I do have quite a few QD's on hand. :)

Have you tried a MF applicator? I've had the best luck with CS using MF.
No, I haven't.
Most of what I had read concerning applicators for CS or OS seemed to recommend the foam.
Since the foam hasn't worked all that great for me, I'll give a MF applicator a try next time.
:thanks

Do the instructions say to wet the applicator? Sometimes a QD or other liquid can have an adverse effect with applying a sealant. Just a thought.

The instructions don't say to wet the applicator.
I don't use a QD during the application. My question about the QD was whether or no using a QD after the OS has dried would do anything about the streaks.

The instructions for use. (Copy and paste from the DC Store site)
Directions for use:

Apply to clean and dry surfaces at temperatures between 55F and 90F. Lightly mist a clean and dry sponge applicator with Opti-Seal or spray directly on the car surface. Work Opti-Seal into the paint by wiping in a circular motion or back and forth until it is evenly spread. Opti-Seal leaves no residue to remove or buff off. If you notice streaking, you are using too much. After application, wash the pad with soap and allow it to dry completely before reusing

Thanks for the suggestions.

While I am no seasoned veteran as yourself I used the Poli-seal last weekend on my white p/u with no streaking. I used the same application method as you. Could it be you have a bad batch??? I don't know..Just a thought.

I'm pretty sure you meant Opti-Seal rather than Poli-Seal. :)
I'm certainly not a seasoned veteran with Opti-Seal. :D
The so called problem is most likely that I am using too much product. Over the years, I have had a tendency to do that, but I thought maybe I had overcome at least one of my bad habits.
A "bad batch" is possible, but not likely. I just need to use it more and learn the proper procedure and applicator for me to use.
