Sorry it really can't be hidden :( , being in the body shop business previously, I have seen that before, and it was usually bad prep before painting.
 
From the look of the pictures, and even then it's hard to tell, I'd have to agree with Poorboy. Sorry about your luck. Make sure you drop by the new members section to give yourself a proper introduction.
 
The only way I know to see where someone is from is to look at the "Location" under the user name/avatar. (You haven't filled yours in yet, I see... :notme: )

As to the paint issue, would it be possible to get at least a partial credit/refund from the person you bought it from? Could be considered misleading if they knew about it beforehand and didn't tell you, or, it could be that they know who painted it and could get some sort of warranty work done for you.

Like everyone, I've been on a bunch of forums for various subjects. Most seem to be populated by a combination of 12 year olds (no offense to 12 year olds) or men who act like 12 year olds (no offense to them either.)

You all seem like...

Anyway...back on topic. I might try to go to the mom and pop dealer that I bought this from and see if he'll help me out in any way. I don't LOVE the car anyway, and would rather trade it in on s/t else.
Let someone else deal with it who likes the car.

Still wonder what the guy used on it to hide it so well...

I think that I can speak for everyone and say THANKS we are here to help with honest answers...you will not find a better run site for detail advice IMO....I think that you are right take it back and tell them your story and for gosh sakes find out what they used to cover that up...I think we all would be real interested in that!!!!

Thanks for the compliments about the site. The staff here works very hard to keep it a professional atmosphere. Like Beemerboy said, you'll be hard pressed to find a better run site for detailing advice.
 
Well, I'm going by the dealer tonight on the way home...the owner seemed to be a decent guy, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he'll help me out in some way.
Yes, I will DEFINITELY try and get an answer from his detail guy on what he used. I'm more mad at myself than them, honestly.
Everyone who knows me and how I keep my vehicles is amazed at how nice I keep them...and then I go and pull a bonehead move by buying a car that looks like this!

Ok, I'm not posting to just post. ;)
Just had to post that the dealer was totally cool. He agreed that the paint was probably failing. He's going to basically let me trade out even for something else.
(I've had this car since November, so its pretty amazing to me.)
He's going to sell my car for me on his lot, and take me to the dealer auction once we find something promising and let me inspect it before he buys it.
He's not going to take any profit on the deal and just swap it for me!
So, I'm pretty stoked.
Once I choose something, buy it and get it shined up (I promise I'll buy something from a forum sponsor...I'm needing wax anyway...), I'll post some pictures!

if you really liked the car, painting it would probably be easier, but as someone who has bought and sold many cars from dealer auctions, please be very careful, dealers don't sell off the cream of the crop too often;)
 
Hello again!
Yes, it took me 3 months to finally get another car!
So, I picked up a dark blue Ford Explorer Sport Trac...Not sure the exact color name, but its a deep, darker blue.
There's not many flaws in the paint, just a few swirls. Can I get some opinions on what products to use to make it "pop"? I want folks to look at it and be amazed. I have a cheap buffer, but not one of those fancy kinds like ya'll use. But I don't think there's much buffing needed on this truck...so I guess i'm looking for opinions on products for hand use, mostly.

I'd love to find one product line that I could use, instead of use xxx polish, yyy wax, zzz claybar, etc.

Or are ya'll going to tell me to read through the forums first...which is ok, if that's what I should do, just be nice...:cheers:

You have heared it before, but let me chime in, because I learned this stuff the hard way. Definitely not rock chips. They look perfectly round and rock chips are not. Those look like fish eyes and that means a crappy paint job. With this extensive damage, wait until you have the money together and do a complete repaint.
