What an awesome ^%!@(* day for detailing...

[Rant]

I had a feeling my day was going to suck when I went to start my Jeep and guess what, OUT OF GAS! Ran to the gas station in one of our other rigs and got gas, came home and I was feeling better. Headed off to work after that...And I didn't even finish the job...

Did a black Ford F250 with about 12" lift and 40" tires today...In the sun (Luckily it wasn't hot, and I even buffed the horizontals without worrying about heat from the sun). Even got a light sprinkling of rain for a few minutes, highly unexpected. There was a woodworking place about 100 yards SE of where I was working, and guess which way the wind was blowing...That's right, North west! Sawdust galore all over the truck, kept blowing/wiping it off. Took some stickers off for the guy with a pneumatic eraser wheel. Forgot how messy those things are, ended up re-washing the truck. I'm standing on the tire polishing the hood and BAM my bottle of 3M Ultrafina SE that was 90% full fell to the ground and busted fully open, bye-bye product!
He didn't have the interior 100% together (hooking up his stereo) and all the wires and stuff were in the way, pieces missing, etc. so I just said "Screw it" and told him I'd rather do it when the interior was back together, I was so disgusted with the way the day went I didn't want to deal with the interior with it all apart and not all the pieces there. He was fine with that, we're doing labor trade so he told me to finish it when it works for both of us
Oh, and the fender flares, he took them off so I could clean up the paint underneath 'em. I was fine with that, but they were so big and flimsy they were a PITA to clean up.

And I went to the bank afterwards to get some cash, checked my account balance and it was $200 short... Went inside and asked what the deal was, turns out I had a client write me a bad check. First thing I did when I left the bank was call her on the phone. But wait, she's in Flahriduh for 2 weeks (Oh yeah? I'll just drive by your house tonight and see if your vehicle is home, just to be safe ;) ). And I'm leaving for So Cal next Thursday for a week, and I REALLY need that money in the bank for bills that go out before I leave...

Days like this I ask myself WHY I'm doing this for a living and why things have to go this way...I'd say I'm an honest guy and pretty easy going, so why does #%$* have to hit the fan like this from time to time? I'd honestly up and leave this work if it wasn't for my optimistic attitude, at times it seems like it's all I've got. But hey. it keeps me truckin' night and day so I guess I can't complain too much...

Anyway, I guess my user title fits me today :crazy2:

It really sounds like you had a horrible day. When I have days like that, I just tell myself that no matter what problems I may have, someone has it worse than I do. My outlook usually changes as soon as I remember that.

Days like this happen. When they do step back for a moment, take a breath and remember you have your health.;)

I've had days like that. A few actually. Made me want to pick up my stuff half way through the job and leave. Wonder why I do this for a living. Better off if I work at McDonalds...lol

Then I suck it up and go on.....:passout:

Just remember:
When the $H!t hits the fan, it doesn't spread evenly.

I always think about how someone has it worse than me, but at the same time I can't help but think "Why me?" I know I'm not alone there ;)

Thats pretty much all I can do, suck it up and keep going. I try and let stuff like this slide while I'm working it's not like I want to sit there and let my negativity get the best of me while I'm working, but sometimes it does and I just get disgusted, like today.
And I can't really think about my health, I've been trying to get over a cold for the past 3 days :crazy2: But other than that I guess I'm healthy as a horse :bigups

With all the responsibilities you have, Chris, it must be hard to suck it up when you have days like this. I have to give you props for that dude :10: :bigups

I started hearing a song play in my head as I read your post. Had A Bad Day

I had a fellow detailer friend of mine tell me a story about him doing this nasty car when he first started detailing.

Well after about an hour of working on this car and not getting very far. He decided he was going to leave (give up):surrender .

Funny thing was, instead of letting the people know he decided that the car was beyond his help, he just left. Had to leave his cord behind because the garage door was closed on it.:rofl

Troy

BTW, This was not me. The name of this person will remain anonymous.

When I owned a full time business, I had to keep reminding myself that the rewards were better than whatever bad situations I had to put up with at the time. Hope things are going better for you today :)

De Nada, Chris :bigups

Well today has started out better, I was s'posed to do this gnarly old dump truck that I really didn't want to do, but the guy called me last night and said he already sold it. I'm trying to move up my Saturday job to today (brand new Mastercraft X80) that will be a cakewalk. If I can free up my Saturday I've got the weekend to go camping :yay

But we'll see, still waiting on a call about the boat...

Hey Man, sucks about your day yesterday. I just got finished detailing an Escalade in the partial rain. Got a massive stomach ache about half way through. I think I drank too much caffeine and didn't eat enough cheerios.
Days like that happen, and when they do, I am still thankful that I'm not stuck behind a desk with a boss glaring over my shoulder.
I'm going to go eat some crackers now and try to get my stomach back in order.

Like Rob@Autogeek, your day reminded me of a song, but this song is of the country genre. This lyric in particular might apply:

Artist/Band: Atkins Rodney

Well you know those times
When you feel like there's a sign there on your back
Says I don't mind if ya kick me
Seems like everybody has
Things go from bad to worse
You'd think they can't get worse than that
And then they do
