painted carbon fiber hood

so, im working on a painted (black) carbon fiber hood. after correction, i found a low spot in the paint. when i put my paint meter on it to see how low it was, to level it out, the meter wouldn`t read. was told it had to be painted metal for the meter to read. any tips or tricks to leveling this out, without having to sand, polish, sand polish?

I`m guessing the problem is a result of the carbon fiber weave. I wouldn`t worry about leveling it out due to fear of thinning the clear coat and possibly breaking through.

What wannafbody said.

I`ve never corrected CF, but I`d *guess* that it`s heat conductivity is more like plastic than metal, so I`d be really careful anyhow, and more so than usual since you can`t measure it with a "metal substrate only"-type ETG.
