do you ever get tired of the same products?

Today i did a detail of a 04 mustang cobra svt, it was a nice car, and came out really nicley. sorry i forgot my camera, this was a job that was sprung on us this morning.

I had my usual aresonal of product. a few of everything for diffrent jobs since i had no idea what to expect. When it came to waxing i didnt feel like using my regulal wax. It would have come out really nicley, but i just wanted to use somthing else. I had more then my fair share to select fom and ended up choosing meguires nxt tech wax. We applied two coats and it came out really nicley.

so after my story, the question is:

Do you ever find yourself reaching for somthing other then your favorite product just to use something diffrent and mix it up? I know we all have alot of our fav's but do you ever find yourself just mixing it up?
 
LOL thats gotta suck for the customer...it snowing like mad right now.


Anyways, I always mix it up. I actually found myself using mothers the other day.

On a side note MIKE ITS 2 AM!!! Also No errors !! this is like 10 post in a row that are prefect.

Not quite. Red highlights could use some capitalization, blue highlights are spelled incorrectly. A few places are missing punctuation as well. I probably missed a few since I often miss a few when I'm typing.
We need to give Calgary credit for content, but he still has some problems with his writing skills. :)

I don't know why, but reading your comments reminded me of Mr. Hand from Fast Times at Ridgemont High. lol
 
Back on topic...
I keep trying too many new stuffs to really have a "go-to" product to "go-from." :D
 
Yeah, you missed a few Charles...but who's counting?

I have my favorite products for certain situations and very rarely do I sway from them. I'll be branching out a bit this summer and will have a few new products to test out.

HAHAHAHA...I don't remember making that post. LOL I guess I fail at spelling at 2 am too! As for Meguiar's being spelled wrong...everyone does it. I have just come to ignore it.
 
I don't stray away from my favorite polishes. I have tried a fair amount and keep going back to what gives the best results the easiest for me. There's too much to lose from using a polish that I don't like or doesn't work well. But for sealants and LSPs, I don't have just one favorite. All the sealants and waxes I have and use are user friendly and also look good. Plus even if you use a not so great LSP chances are if you polished the vehicle, it'll still look good - so less to lose on the looks side of things.
 
CalgaryDetail, with your commitment to trying "every" wax available, I'm guessing that you would be hard pressed to have "just one" favorite :)

In response to your question, yes I do "force" myself to look through my boxes and try to pick out a product that maybe I haven't used for a while.
 
When you find yourself using a different product just to mix it up, usually there is brain damage involved. I mix things up all of the time. Something different breaks up the monotony of cleaning cars for a living. Whether it is a different wax, a different chemical smell or a different color of towel I love a change. When my air hose (used for water) or my electrical cords need replacing I try to get a new color. Tomorrow I may climb out my truck window dukes of hazzard style all day just to mix it up. I think there is a reason why some will change just to change and other would not even consider it. I'm not a big fan or repetitive tasks for endless periods of time although I do like breathing. Cleaning cars while repetitve isn't that bad. Now doing something like factory work, repeating something 10,000 a time. I believe that would make me insane. Nothing wrong with that sort of work, just not for me.
 
One of the main reasons I enjoy being mobile, I always get a change of scenery :dnaughty

I mix products up a bit but mainly dressings, LSP's, and glass cleaners. I usually know which LSP will make a car look good but sometimes I just don't get the shine that I want, I might want the finish a little deeper or have muted the flake a bit more, stuff like that. The customer is always happy though, which is most important. I'm DYING to try out my Souveran, I haven't yet had a color worthy of it. I tried it on a Silver Hyundai on Sunday but I seriously didn't even notice a difference. Come to think of it, I hate working on silver for that exact reason. For a color it's just too...tame
