PA DETAILER

DETAILED TODAY?
It was nasty here in PA Saturday! Going to hit mid 40`s today. I would like to at the very least do a good wash and hydro blue. Fast detailer on the interior. First wash of a new vehicle you really get to see what you missed at the dealer. Then time to move the supplies to the heated part of the garage. Sadly looks like my stink on it is going to have wait till spring. In the meantime get all the boogers I find fixed under warranty. And get some mud flaps on it.

Because we live on a spherical object and have a stationary heat/light source that is positioned further south this time of year, and because I live further south than you do, my detailing season has just began. Too hot 6 months out of the year. Thank goodness for OCW during those awful months.

Which part of PA do you live. Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, or Alabama?
As a fellow Pennsylvanian, I take offense......Nah, who am I kidding. You did, however leave out Pensyltucky. With all apologies to Kentucky.

I`m with PA Detailer - hoping to get my last good detail in today before hitting the PA Turnpike - leaving tomorrow for Pittsburgh, then Las Vegas for a few days. Wind chills here were in the low 20`s yesterday. A tad too early for that.

Hahaha, that`s not the first time I`ve heard that! It was about 25* here this morning, I think it felt like it took almost the whole trip back home to get warm in the car! I moved most of my detailing supplies inside already besides some wash stuff. Detailing season is all but over here.

I`m always surprised when people here aren`t carrying on in heated garages, I`d simply die (or rather, I`d quit Detailing and just lease Disposable Cars).

Eh, that probably comes across all wrong/snobbish :o but gee, I was renting a place where I could run space heaters back when I was a kid. Simply *never* lacked a heated garage after my first winter with a driver`s license. Well, other than the period when I *did* quit Detailing, and did drive a Disposable, while I attended to other priorities.

If one can afford an insulated garage door, and insulate all the walls and drywall them all up, including the ceiling, it is amazing how much warmer it will stay in there even on cold days.
And then, if you put a heater in there, well its all good again..
My 18, 4-ft 2-tube T8 shop lights in the ceiling put out a little heat too and that is good in winter..

I`ll have to figure out exactly how I feel about this weather. I just spend 4 years in Houston and 5 in New Orleans, so I`m excited to not have to deal with 100+ degrees with 95% humidity all day every day. Maybe detailing in the cold won`t be as exciting as I imagine it will be.

someidiot- Nashville weather can run the gamut...you gonna get snowtires? Seems that whenever Winter visits Nashville there are a lot of traffic mishaps.

Yeah, depending on the area, the South can be a comedy show when it snows. Of course, any mountain region people are used to snow.

Maybe we`ll run into you at Puckett`s one day. We usually visit the one in Franklin.

If you get a chance, check out Sopapilla`s in Franklin. It`s incredible. It`s nowhere near downtown, either.

Not planning on getting snow tires. I just moved here a few months ago, so maybe my feelings will change after this first winter.

We also go to the one in Franklin. Love their pulled pork and sweet potato fries.

We were down at Biscuit Love in Franklin last weekend.

Older- Heh heh, that won`t be likely as I maintain great relations with the in-laws in part by staying at a distance.
Accumulatorette spends enough time down there for both of us, everybody`s happy ;)

Hopefully Dave you won’t have to wait till spring. On a happy note, the weather lady said Rain, Snow ,and Sleet for Thursday. I have to get my top off my gazebo or it will collapse. Happy winter

i detailed two rides today. still 87 and humid.

this is silly! We had 3 nice cool days in October, but November has been brutal. When we don`t get a break from the heat, it makes time go buy so much faster to me. It`s like summer, then... wait for it... wait... THERE! - a few days of fall. Then summer again.

I guess the nights are better, so power bill drops into the mid 100`s rather than high 200`s.

We are already in the winter-mode here in Green Bay Wisconsin; 13°F this morning (Tues, 13 Nov) with a high expected of 25°F, and yes, there is SNOW on the ground from Saturday night of about 3/4". (Makes Al Gore and his Global Warming pundits look like idiots and meteorologist who say this winter will be mild because of El Nino look like liars!)So while your detailing ,WaxAddict, is just starting, mine is just ending!
Funny thing is, I was out shoveling snow early Sunday morning at a neighbor`s house because we live near Lambeau Field and the Packers were to play the Miami Dolphins in the afternoon and needed to remove the snow because of all the foot traffic that would ensue from fans who park in this area and walk to the game. A local TV station happened by and asked to interview me LIVE during their morning show about shoveling snow and getting ready for the game that day. Needless to say, shoveling snow in early November in NOT a common occurrence, especially on Packer Game Day at home. So I had my 2-minutes of fame on TV. A friend called later in the day to say, "At least you did not talk like a doofus and embarrass yourself!"

It`s not getting any warmer here anytime soon. Like I said, pretty much put the stop on outdoor detailing. Last week I did wash my Ford Freestyle when it was slightly above freezing to get the crushed fall leaves litter/debris slurry that had clung to the sides and in the wheel wells after a series of rainfalls, high winds, and said leaves made a REAL MESS in the streets. That leaf slurry is pain in the royal petoot to get off and it gets into your wash media (I chose to use an older cotton chenille pad I had because the very small crushed leaf debris clings to the media and it does not rinse out easily. It MIGHT be removed with a vacuum when it dries!). Ended up doing the neighbor`s Ford Escape the next day for the same reason. You can TRY to hose it off as much as you can, but there are areas that only a physical wipe will get into to remove that leaf debris.

Don`t know what they`re predicting for you PA Detailer on Thursday, but this is what we got so far...

Luckily it shouldn`t be bad on the commute home in the morning and they got most of the day to treat the roads before I leave...
