Mothers Back to Black

Old school product that has its place in time but now has been eclipsed by superior Nano trim technology. I think of traditional Waxes and sealants the same exact way. They had their place but I would not use by choice today.

Anybody have experience with the Mother`s Back to Black Heavy Duty Trim Cleaner? The one that comes with a brush?

I would tend to agree it`s a horrible EXCEPT in one instance.

My daughter`s 2010 Mazda3 hatchback`s side mirrors connect to the door on a black plastic mount. This piece has a very odd texture and is unlike plastic I`ve seen on any of my other cars. I`ve used many different trim protectants on it and all of them seem to just absorb into the plastic and dissapear. The only product which has ever darkened the plastic and returned it to a like-new appearance is the Mothers. Granted it doesn`t last long and it will run off in the rain, but it`s the only product which has every worked on those two small pieces of that one car. Strangest thing....

yes. I use it often. It really deep cleans plastics well. Preps them perfectly for a coating or whatever protectant you choose.

Thanks, Dr. Oldz. I don`t remember why I bought it three years ago. But it sounds like something I can use on my high mileage `96 Jeep.

Yeah there *are* applications like that!

I`d still never use anything that runs in the rain though (I`d bet Autoglym Bumper Care would work on the Mazda`s sideviews, that`s my choice for "nothing works on this!" situations).

Give a little thought to how that works...and don`t overdo it ;) Not something I`d *ever* do on something I cared about, but yeah a lot of people do it.

I like to live dangerously :P

After years and countless products you grow tired of issues like that...
