Gas Prices

Just curious. Who has the highest and lowest in the country? Pretty sure I don’t have the highest compared to New York or maybe even California. Never been to either one. The lowest in my neck of the woods is $2.33 a gallon

I was in IL last week and RUG was 2.25/gallon. I filled up yesterday near my home and PUG was 2.99.

I dunno, our gas prices are cheap compared to much of the globe.

Went up $.10 in the last week to $2.54 per gallon here in NW MN. I think our tax runs around $.60 per gallon give or take(I think).

Heh, it`s $2.89 for regular around here, but premium is around $3.39. PA and their gas tax, supposed to be for more road funding, but the potholes around here will swallow a small car....

Here in my area (where I can kind of see NY state across the lake from my office window) gas is about $1.30/liter, or about $4.94/US gallon in my currency. If you change to USD, it`s about $3.82US / US gallon.

In Sweden with the taxes and all it`s 6.82/gallon! It`s 95 octane as regualar here. The diesel is 6.70/gallon!

The taxes and environmental taxes and VAT is crazy here. Then you have the car taxes every year depending on the weight of the car and environmental class they have. It`s between 100-700$ a year. Then you have a high insurance costs and other environmental taxes on tires and more. To own a car in Sweden is not cheap is the least you could say :(

Another crazy thing I have noticed sometimes is different prices in the same town from the same company ?

Taxes are a killer, but I think the most expensive place in the US I`ve ever seen for gas at a discrete point in time was Hawaii. I think it give LA and New York a run for their money. Every time I`d travel back to the mainland on work, I`d be shocked at the cheap prices.

Location, Location, Location!! Or really, competition within that location.
Yup, notice this at the Kwik-Trip Gas Convenience stores in Green Bay, WI. Prices vary as much as $0.12 per gallon, depending on the competing gas stations near them. That`s unheard of in this area and some gas stores are only like three miles apart!!
It almost boarders on price fixing!!!!!!

Gas prices in Wisconsin are allowed by state law to increase ONCE a day at a gas station (they can decrease as often as they like). This is in response to the 2001 9/11 attacks when gas prices jumped $0.50 to $0.60 per gallon on that day, sometimes in dime increments every hour. Yes, there was a lawsuit by the state on one gas station franchise that took about 1 year to be settled. The state got the fine, but the consumer got nothin`!

I fill up at Costco if it`s near me (not all Costco`s around me have stations). I don`t know how they do it but they consistently .15+ cheaper than the usual Top Tiers

One thing I’ve noticed when traveling when you get off the interstate to get gas the first 1 or 2 gas stations you see have a much higher price than the 1 or 2 stations a couple miles down the road but you don’t know they are there

In Columbus Ohio it is $2.30 - $2.40 a gallon for regular. My car uses premium which is closer to $3. Prices have been inching up a bit. Considering I have paid over $4 a gallon for premium here before, still not terrible. At just over $4 for premium I can recall a fill up, on a my car mind you, costing $90. That was hard to swallow.
