MF drying towel review. - what would you like to see reviewed and how?

There is the I hate detailing towel which is similar to the MFtech helix and Gyeon silk dryer.

Basically a single sided twist type drying towel but in a drying towel size not the smaller 16x24 of the twistress

I just bought it but haven`t used it yet for 15 bucks it`s a reasonable value price wise.

Adams has a plush and a ww towel and there is the UBER towel from detailers domain

This should be very interesting. I appreciate your efforts.

Assuming my search skills are passable, we haven`t had a thread here discussing the Kirkland (Costco) MF for ten years or so. I`m not sure if they`re still the same ones that were sold in the past. Just curious if anyone else is interested in how they stack up against much more expensive MF.

Thanks in advance for your efforts. You already have covered all the drying towels I have in stock, so I have none to add, but I`ll be looking forward to your thoughts of the ones on your list.

I have some but they have been used for buffing/polish removal so they probably are not the best for drying.

Still trying to get a large towel From Gyeon Quartz, a drying towel from Adams, and The Uber Super Drying Towel.

I will say; the response from vendors has been 99% positive, I`ve only had one or two say no. Pretty impressive!

A teaser!

My question is:
What will you do with them AFTER this drying comparison testing is done??

Underwriter`s Lab or Consumer`s Report doesn`t have as an "extensive" list like this. Here are some things to consider in doing objective testing.
1) Measuring the actual physical weight of each towel and then it`s "wet weight" to determine it`s absorption-to-material weight ability scale. A pre-determined mathematical formula/equation to calculate a test number/value is a more "objective" (IE scientifically quantifiable) methodology to accurately and equitably compare towel-to-towel. (I`d swear resident Autopian scientist Kevin Brown is writing/typing this!!)
2) You will also not be able to determine long-term durability without doing number drying cycles and how it`s absorption ability is retained. This also includes its dry weight after many drying cycles, and one that looses its weight significantly is one that I would think "lints or sheds" a lot.
3) Lastly is the cost factor-to- absorption ability. An inexpensive towel that only picks up 75% of what a top-absorption towel will do may be a better `value" if you divide the dollar cost by the wet weight, again as objective number to use as a comparison.

I say this because most comparison tests are subjective in nature, meaning they are subject to the personal opinions and evaluations and judgments of the person viewing the results.
Like asking which wax is the shiniest. An identical wax on a white car may not "look" the same on a black car right next to it. Or if different waxes were applied to the same color and make of car, lighting will play tricks on a person`s eyes as to what may be deemed "shiniest". My point is there are many factors/variables in doing comparison testing. Mitigating those variables are the tester`s responsibility.

That said, regardless of how you do your testing and present your results, you are to be commended for undertaking such a task. I, and I am sure ALOT of other Autopians, are interested to find out what this comparison testing will discover and reveal about drying towels.

All of the towels have arrived! Anyone want to guess on the total number to be reviewed?

This shelf is all of the drying towels I have. Frankly it`s a bit intimidating!

Anyone want to try and call out individual towels from the picture? There are a number of towels VERY similar.

Is the Adams the one in the bag on the right that big ol white fluffy guy or is that the MF madness

What about that top left one CG wooly mammoth?

I see the helix from microfiber tech the grey with black band on the left. A lot of great stuff there

A lot of work ahead !

Thanks for doing this. At least you got like what 44 great towels after all this.

Looking forward to your review. Although I`ll be hard pressed to ever move from my Griots PFM for drying.

Feel the same way about my trc twistress. The price is great and the performance so good I have another 6 on the way!

Looking forward to your review. Although I`ll be hard pressed to ever move from my Griots PFM for drying.

Adams never responded via email and when I talked to them on the phone they were rude and came off offended that someone would ask for a single towel to be donated.... only company to respond that way.

Your second guess is correct.

Thanks! Yes... a lot of great towels!

The test is on-going... I did a waterless wash today with three of the ultra plush towels...

Do you have a set of baseline testing procedures/parameters that you`ve outlined for testing the towels under?

If not, one thing that I would be interested in is absorbancy: Spray water on surface. Lay towel flat on wetted surface. Pat towel to absorb water. Peal towel off (do not wipe across surface). Review how much water remains on surface.

Repeat the above procedure several times including wringing the towel out at some point then see how much water it leaves on the surface even after wringing it out.

I would be very interested in a towel that absorbs the most amount of water w/o wiping it across the paint.
