2010 Camaro Optimum Gloss Coat New Formula

I use Wolfgang polishes, then I wipe down with optimum paint prep I`ll hope for the best.:huh::huh::huh:

So what happens if you use there polish and 17 months it fails what will they blame it on then ?

Anyone have longer results from gloss coat. ?

Yeah that is something I am curious about myself.

Yvan makes a good point. The surface needs to be truly clean for a coating to adhere properly. Probably cleaner than most people realize. I`d go over the car several times (3-4) with paint prep and a pile of MF towels as to not recontaminate the surface with a soiled rag.

When I was painting cars we would use many rolls (6-10) of paper towels to clean a car before paint.

Sure and that`s pretty well known when applying any coating.

I wiped this car multiple times with multiple towels.

I`ve used M205 and eraser with other coatings and have never had this issue.

But I get that part of Yvan`s job is to push the product line. So he has to say that optimum polishes and prep products are better than others.

Damn...sorry Guz! My first thought was you were one of those guys who used 2.1cc`s on the entire car then blasted it with a pressure washer every weekend :) but I`m happy to see that wasn`t the case! You used 8-9cc`s it looks like and I know that you know how to maintain a coating. I gotta agree with Yvan though and say oily polishes are a coatings achilles heel. I completely stopped using Menzerna finishing polishes for this same reason.

It makes sense because blood collection procedure requires an initial scrub of the area for 30 seconds with alcohol, followed by a second 30 second scrub of the same area after completely drying. Oil is stubborn to remove off surfaces.

Bummer it didn`t last long, but on the bright side now you can apply another coating ;)

Thanks Ray. I will not be coating this one again. The closest it will get to a coating it will be with Gyeon Can Coat. Other than that it will be getting a traditional sealant.

So I guess 3 wipedowns with eraser and multiple towels were not good enough....damn lol.

The argument here is why don`t we hear others having issues with polishes such as M205 and say cquartz or Gtechniq as and example. Just an observation.

Maybe the coating is still there at some level and is degraded to the point where it is just barely hanging on by a thread. Hard to really say unless I find someone like The Atom.
