Perfect attendance dinner

Our work throws a catered dinner every year for perfect attendance. (2016) Friday the 10th this year. Figured it`s a no brainer not to go. Starts at 12pm rather than our normal start time at 3:30PM. Once it`s done you do go back to work, but your day starts at 12PM. So you can leave at 8PM. Plus I heard they are going to raffle off 5 paid days off. 5 chances to win one. You are not obligated to attend. If you don`t, you just have a regular work day. It`s at their local fire hall again. Figure it`s worth just getting out early Friday.

sounds like an interesting event :thinking so you are not invited if you got sick once throughout the year :dunno:

doesn`t sound like a lot of people would be attending :lol2:

You can miss 1 day and still be perfect. Gone are the days I heard after the dinner, you got to go home and were paid the full day. I attended it twice, and it is a first class dinner. They moved it to Friday this year, so getting out early for the weekend a big plus.

My job does a safety meal every month but if someone needs a bandaid it`s gone so so many of us carry our own safety kits in our toolbox. I work in a machine shop where work with cast iron and steal so nicks, small cuts, abrasions, and slivers will happen.

so how many people attend the dinner on average?

I was told yesterday, we will work till 7PM. So 12-7. But with this storm, look`s like I really got to leave early to make the dinner...

I would go, sounds like a nice change of pace and even though it`s going to be tough going back to work after a nice meal , at least you get to look forward to leaving earlier.

I remembered doing everything I could to get perfect attendance during my Technical School training which was a full year 5 days a week. The ONE time I arrived a few minutes late because of nasty storms, the lights were out at the school, so I creeped into class and the teacher didn`t penalize me for it ...phew!!! nailed it!

not sure a dinner is worth being out in the storm .. there`s always someone out in a storm that doesn`t belong and they are the ones you can`t control

Wish we could take days off for being sick! Driving out of town every week, you`re pretty much expected to go. Last March I was sick as a dog and had to make a loop through upstate NY to swap out work van.

The storm was really done by the time I left for it. The dinner was top tier! As much as you wanted.

Baked fish
Beef
Mashed potatoes
Green beans
Cole slaw
Pasta
Bread/rolls
Cake

Got back to work around 2PM. Left at 7PM. Had a really good time. All in all, I would say about 50+ people.

The hard part was going back to work on a full stomach, but well worth it!
