Getting old and Medical issues are not for pansies

I hear you, most of our old age ailments were caused by our 20 year old mentality. When I kneel I spend a while looking around to see if there is anything else I can do while down there. The utter pain in the knees is almost enough to make you want to stay where your at.

Dave

Are they still your original knees? I have one of mine and one new one. The new one clicks a little when I ride the bike at the gym, but the pain is much better.

One thing I can tell you is follow the doctors orders. I felt great at two weeks and stood in the doctors office and argued with the nurse until she let me go back to work. Then she told me to make sure I wore the neck brace the whole time I was at work...yeah, I think that lasted 20 minutes. I wonder why the hardware came loose and I had to have a revision?? lol

dave, in ref. to social security blowing you off, that`s pretty typical. a lot of folks who deserve disability, need to apply several times before actually getting it. they hope most folks will get frustrated and give up. (the VA routinely does this with our vets too) some attorneys deal specifically with social security claims like this and may be able to help.

Yes they are, I still have all the original equipment with some added reinforcement in the left ankle and now the neck. I have not seen a Doctor but some of the ailments are probably Arthritis.

Funny you mention this, going to call an attorney tomorrow. When all this started I specifically asked what the recovery time was for this surgery. I was told 3 Months. That is almost perfect because work just happened to have a 3 Month disability program which amounted to $500.00 a week maximum. December 19th was 3 Months and they assigned me approx. 2 Months of PT 3 times a week. I have been paying out of pocket for medical insurance to my employer which also told me after 3 Months they would probably boot me over to Cobra. Now I do not know anyone that can afford Cobra especially some one that does not have a income. In a desperation attempt I applied for Veterans health care about a Month ago ( yeah I know all about their problems). Haven`t heard anything yet. So here I am Living off the money I have saved through out the years for retirement, Social Security screwing me around and dwindling health care after being told of a 3 Month recovery. Anyone reading all of this should keep it in mind because you never know if it will happen to you. I am eligible for early retirement which would at least give some income although way below the poverty level but I will discuss that with the Lawyer I guess. It is a crying shame that I have been working and paying into SS for 47 years plus and have to fight with them.

Fortunately I had long term disability insurance. They told me to file for SS and when I got denied they have lawyer who specializes in SS and I had it within 30-45 days. I would look for a lawyer who specializes in SS. There is a maximum they can charge you so it doesn`t get very high on a lot of attorneys priority list. I had a friend that waited almost 2 years using a lawyer who practiced family law.
