...Still have my 80`s vintage metal case made-in-USA Rockwell, as well as a later plastic one from the Far East....

I keep eyeing all the newer long-throws available, so maybe things will change someday.

Bill

Bill, you sir, are old school :) Rockwell....first time I`ve heard that name in detailing industry.

I didn`t think I`d get a long throw machine myself....but "someday" came for me last week. Only time will tell if I decide to keep it.

PC 7424 and Flex XC3401. I`m old

not old, but old school! :)

I bought this about 1980 or so, when I was doing some weekend cash work.

They weren`t lyin` when they stamped "Heavy Duty" on the badge. This thing is 35 years old and can easily do another 35.

Rockwell, known as an aerospace company at the time, acquired Porter-Cable and manufactured the Rockwell-branded P-C power tools as well as their own additions. I dated a girl who worked there, so I outfitted my Dad with things like a drill press, sander, circular saw, router, as well as my buffer, all from the company store, long before we had big box or online tool outlets..
Eventually, they either sold off or spun off the P-C brand and the Rockwell name disappeared from the tool market.

I guess you could say this old relic is a cousin to the porter-Cable polishers we use today.

If I would have had the foresight to buy a Rockwell Angle Sander back then, I`d have the granddaddy of today`s PC7224, but D/A polishing was unheard of back in the 80`s.

Bill

I`m a newbie so I`ve only got the portercable. I figure with a Miata there is no need for a more serious machine. Just trying to learn everything at the moment.

Thanks for the givewaway. Merry Christmas!

GIVEAWAY - What TWO Polishers Do You Use MOST

We are nearing the end of 2016, and I wanted to know what the most used machines are these days

I`ve searched and searched looking for these types of polls, but they all seem to be a bit older. Yup, when the PC7424 is the one with the biggest numbers, you know it`s old!

At any rate, now that the Griot`s BOSS machines are out, I want to see what the most common machines are. I`m not looking to start a debate, arguments, whatever. We live in some good days with many options for some excellent machines. I`m basically doing research...call it Market Research, if you will. :)

This giveaway is for a 50$US eGift Certificate good for an Autopia Car Care purchase. Once the winner is randomly selected, I`ll need the winner`s email and have the Gift Certificate sent to him/her.

How to enter:

1) VOTE!
2) Post a reply to this thread so I know who`s entered.
3) That`s pretty much it!

* Poll ends December 29, 2016

Thank you to ALL who participate.
