quick trade in inspection prep question

I`m thinking just a vacuum, ozium in the vents and maybe a light stain removal on the frontier since the dog has dirtied the seats a little.

car is just lightly dirty. I will probably just vacuum it and wipe down the interior

engine bay of the srt is clean

truck not so much but that is not gonna change today, lol

that seem fair for a trade in inspection?

should I even wash the truck?

When I traded in my car earlier this year, I had to drive 3 hours to the dealership in the rain/sun/rain/sun so the car was filthy.... they really do not care. As long as it doesn`t look like it was abused, it certainly doesn`t have to look like a show car.

ok so quick vacuum and interior dry wipe it is

i`ll have to say I was tempted to do nattys black on my SRT, lol

just maybe one last time

but I`m feeling pretty lazy today

Agree with above, they do a carfax and the used car manager knows how to look over a vehicle. Were I have been dealing on cars they know me and my OCD so they know how I take care of our vehicles.

They are just going to offer you blue book value no matter what it looks like. You might be able to haggle for a few dollars more if the car is outstanding. But they usually have people they pay to recondition the vehicle anyway. You could probably get the same price over the phone.

they thought of someone ruining all the PA high gloss and zircon on my SRT and the coatings on my truck makes me feel kind of sick

so I`m still just going to vacuum it. to say these vehicles have been "well maintained" would be an understatement towards my OCD, lol

The last 2 cars Ive traded in they gave me my trade in value without even looking at the car, which was frustrating. Even though my Acura was easily in the "Excellent" category, they won`t typically give you that price. Most dealers use software to manage inventory and pricing and they know when people shop for cars the typically won`t come and look at the highest priced one. They agreed my car was in exceptional shape and worth more then the average trade in, but it doesn`t them any good if they can`t get someone to come look at it.

Before I traded in my 2014 charger I did a full detail on it. Engine bay, wheel wells, wheels, interior and exterior. I also applied glaze to fill in any swirls and small scratches it might have had. The used car guy was SO into the car. Saying he can put it in the showroom and sell it is a brand new car if he could. He ended up giving almost an extra grand for the car over KBB. BUT, this really depends on the person evaluating the car. Some guys might see it as a quick sale because its so clean, others won`t care.

Also a big factor, is if he is going to keep the car at his dealership or auction/wholesale it.

I would keep it simple. Quick clean up of the interior and a quick rinseless. No sense in going to crazy since you are not keeping the cars and finish will be ruined as soon as the dealaer takes ownership.

I would imagine my car would sell used pretty quickly

blue book says 17-19k. I`m sure if I sat on it I could sell it for 20 after someone haggled with me, so we`ll see where they`re at...if they come at me with something ridiculous I will just leave

it`s not the end of the world to me if I don`t get into something else today

time is on the buyers side (assuming said buyer is patient)

hell, its my birthday today

I`m just out to shake down some 392 shakers and if I like them ill buy one I didn`t beat the crap out of :) or possibly order the exact one I want

idea here is I think they`re gonna have more wiggle room this time of year on a 2016 sitting on the lot all year with taxes coming up

as far as the car- I did a quick vacuum (forgot I had vacuumed it out a few months ago so it was just front floor
I put some mirror bright leather lotion on the fake leather part of the seats and wiped down the dash with a dry towel

there is just a faint amount of dust on the car, I`m gonna leave it. it looks really good already

Are you planning on driving both vehicles there? If not, take the SRT as your "best foot forward" and tell them that the truck is in the same condition.

If nothing else, it will save them from paying the lot tech to drag a crusty old bath towel over the surface to "prep" it for sale.

Edit - :bday:

Happy Birthday! It is always better if you can sell the car yourself. No one in your car club is interested? Put it up for sale here if the rules allow. I just bought a car, but I would rather buy one from an Autopian than off a lot. I have thought about asking this question often. I would have liked Ron`s black Vette.

ck to see if there is any manufacturer $$$$
dodge offers a few grand off
maybe there are some loyalty bucks out there too

we get the best deal at the dealership that doesn`t have the two vehicles i`m really debating on here, but my friend and vp of our club is very close with our local dealer connection and he is going to send over the stock numbers I showed him and see if the dealer can work an inventory trade

he also offered to meet me at our dealership to make sure I was well taken care of - which I plan on letting him do- lol
