Officers down in Dallas

The government did the usual thing as they often have. They lowered the flags to half staff as snopes noted. Now, given all the shootings and deaths (like Scalia) it has been lowered a lot.

Do you think there should have been a special event (like blue lighting) for the 5 law enforcement officers than makes it more significant than or Orlando or San Bernardino?

The politicians have been awfully quiet on these issues. I always the expect the gun discussion (do not think that is the answer) but little else except the usual partisan blaming. If there was a congressional task force on something this subject would be it.

I am not a fan of lighting it up for most any reason. It was my attempt to show that the White House (resident) has his own agenda, and Blue Lives Matter is not one of em.

I think some is just Obama`s style.

In his press conference in Poland (actually listened to it live for over an hour as it interrupted some PBS radio shows I had planned to listen to) he praises them but not as a comparison to those that dislike police for whatever reason.

"I want to begin this press conference with events back home. This has been a tough week -- first and foremost, for the families *[of those] who have been killed, but also for the entire American family. In my call yesterday to Attorney General Loretta Lynch, I stressed that the Justice Department and our federal government should continue to do everything that we can to assist the investigation in Dallas, and to support the police and the city of Dallas as they deal with this tragedy.

In my call to Chief Brown, I commended him for showing outstanding leadership during an extremely challenging time, and asked him to convey to all the officers and their families how the American people are grieving with them and that we stand with them. "

"Americans, to a large degree, want to make sure that we have a police force that is supported, because they know our police officers do a really tough, dangerous job. And witness the professionalism of our Dallas police officers. As they were being shot at, the fact that they helped to clear the area, they helped to get the fallen and the injured out of there, they were able to isolate the suspect, and that you didn`t have other casualties as a consequence of the police shooting back -- that just gives you an indication of what a tough job they have and how well they do it on a regular basis."

It was delivered in his often used style (more like a lecturer than a drum beater) so as not emotional as some may prefer.

I am one of those who dislike his style of delivery....

Maybe if he showed the emotion he shows when talking about global warming and his anti "assault rifle" dictates, it might be more believable.

I actually *like* an unemotional delivery style!

But O sure does come across as pedantic, as if lecturing ignorant students who are irritatingly slow on the up-take. Always sounds like anybody who doesn`t agree with him just doesn`t understand his infallible reasoning

And if he stops telling me who I am as an American.

he`s been well spoken and on point in a lot of his interviews
YES !!!!! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^

And David Brown has had his personal share of tragedy when his son shot it out with police, killed a man and a policeman, and was ultimately killed, several years ago..

Born and raised in Dallas, this man, David Brown, is another great Texan, who would stop and help anyone if they needed it...
We are so blessed by his calm, firm, quiet, leadership that has no bias at a time when emotions are still very, very, raw and hurt...

Loved the interview Fox showed with the Hospital Staff I believe at Parkland, which was just down the street, I think..
What a load they had to carry and then are carrying in their own personal way today...

It so brings back memories of what transpired in November of 1963 when JFK was assassinated in Dallas..
I was just a kid in Jr. High School there, and when they announced it the entire class including the Teacher were in tears..
The entire city and state of Texas bore much grief for that horrific event a long time...

Parkland is one of the main trauma units for the entire Dallas-Fort Worth area, it is unfortunate that they had to treat those that protect and serve. However, they see the worst of the worst day in and day out.

My point is that Obama does verbally make comments about supporting our law enforcement which are ignored by his critics but I think the bigger issue is some of the pro cop types deny there is any type of problem with some law enforcement officers. Obama praised the Dallas chief for improvements in community relationship and complaints about issues. These are usually at the core local issues and need to be addressed locally. No act of Congress or the President is going to solve it alone.
