If you really want disgusting, look at Harvard`s endowment and tell me why they even have to charge for tuition.

At Elizabeth Warren speaks more than once,

Speaking fees for all (right and left) are high just for one speech,

Palin was getting $100K+ per speech after her run. Much less now...just need a newspaper coupon to get a discount.

Trump per this article was getting up to $1.5 Million.

Both Clintons were getting $200K.

Washington's Highest (and Lowest) Speaking Fees - ABC News

A lot of these president wannabees seem to just want to get in the news and then go on the speaking circuit or get some talking head show.

I find it absurd, the concept of paying someone those figures for their opinion.

I`m doing BOGO on my opinion, at a fraction of their asking price :).

And they are tax exempt, including all the non school related properties they own around Boston. They are one of the Largest non public land owners in Boston and pay 0 property taxes!?

I work at a small private university - for two years straight none of the staff or faculty got any raises and all of the top administrators got bonuses in excess of 50k despite declining enrollments & budget deficits. The bloat is real and absolutely insane. Tuition increased those two years as well. You`d think that instead of increasing tuition and running off more potential enrollments that the people at the top would make a sacrifice and not receive any bonuses before trying to get more money.

Oh, and their housing is usually paid for by the university too, all on top of their six figure salaries. I dunno about you all but I remember when a bonus was for actually achieving something and only when an organization was in good financial health.

What kills me about these top salaries is how can they go out fund raising/ asking for donations with a straight face? For example:

Lee Bollinger, president of Columbia University, enjoyed the most generous package, a total of $4.6 million, including $1.17 million in base pay, a bonus of $943,000, use of a university residence and other deferred compensation.

Theres no way I`d give that joker a dime of my hard earned cash!!!

People dig themselves into a hole and pay the crazy tuition - good for them. As long as people go to a school based on whatever big name it is, they will continue to get raped on tuition & fees.

All I can think of is Thurston Howell the Third saying he was a "Harvard man". I`m sure.

Me, I went to Temple. The tuition at the time for pharmacy school was ~ $15k a year. The only other game in Philly at the time for a Doctor of Pharmacy degree was Philadelphia College of Pharmacy & Science (or whatever it`s called - dunno what it`s even called now) - there tuition was like $35k.

That made the choice easy for me.

If you want to go down some type of career path where your trajectory is based on wether or not you went to Harvard, Yale, Brown, etc... opposed to hard work and merit - well, I guess that is the price you have to pay.
