Polishing by hand to remove fresh coat of wax?

I need to remove a fresh coat of wax so I can apply a coating. Is there a hand polisher I can use that will do the job? I was originally going to wash and clay it, followed by a 15% IPA solution as the final step but wasn't sure if this would completely remove the wax since it's rather new. It's been polished already prior to wax so I don't want to marr the paint.

Got won't need to polish. Presoak with an APC before washing. Wash, clay, then IPA.. That was will be gone for sure. Beats having to polish!

would pre-soaking with a dawn soap solution instead of APC before washing do the job? Maybe apply with a bug sprayer and let sit for 5-10 minutes before rinsing off.

Somewhere, Dawn got this reputation for being a really harsh soap... And nobody knows why. If you're gonna clay, dawn might be enough... But dawn also tends to stain trim. And who knows how effective Dawn actually is. I'd just stick with tried and true methods, myself.

Honestly, any soap is fine if you're gonna clay.

Make sure you read through the article RMD posted--in a nutshell it has been shown that Dawn or even a strong APC won't remove a good LSP. Rather than polishing by hand perhaps you could find a good paint cleaner --one that has no wax, sealant or glaze in the product. I'm not familiar with any of these but perhaps others could provide some info.

Edit: Forgot about Duragloss Squeaky Clean which may be just the thing you need: https://www.duragloss.com/Enviroshield-Ceramic-Coating-System-Kit/1060-Squeaky-Clean-Surface-Prep-4oz

Dawn and IPA don't strip wax the way so many people expect them to.

I'd avoid claying it as many people instill marring when they clay. I would avoid any polishing if only because I don't remove *any*clear unless I have a good reason for doing it (OK, OK...I'm a fanatic about that subject :o ). While a paint cleaner oughta work fine, I'd just wash it with something like ValuGard's "A". That stuff does what people expect Dawn to do. One wash, wax gone.
