Opened sprayer and poured the water on the hood as evenly as I could

They all still release very well even though the nice beads appear gone

Thoughts:
So i give up on objectively trying to rate these. I am most likely going to polish out the truck with essence and top with dodo hybrid nano and other silica type products for my next curiosity experiment.

Hood still looks great although I'm ready to try something else out.

This is great! looks like you cant really go wrong with any of these, I'll be going with the EXP first, the beading stays consistent and easy to apply. Thank you for doing this!

Thanks for this test.

I've been thinking about wax, sealants, etc. for a long time. Paints have always been pretty hard and the thickness of whatever sealant or wax is so thin it's hard to imagine them having a lot of ability to protect against scratching due to hardness. I don't know if anyone has taken a durometer to paint before and after applying products, but, if they have and there is a real testable difference I'd like to know. (Anyone?)

That said, there's no doubt a good wax or sealant does protect the surface from scratching. So, I've come to believe that the difference, the protection, is a result of the slickness the products provide. A slick surface keeps abrasives from getting a bite.

So, the way I would pick the winner in this test wouldn't be determined solely by which one beads water the longest. I'd also look for a difference in marring on the surface over time.

Again, thanks for the contribution.

Robert

But....... But.......... But...............

How can we reach a conclusion ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

:D

Thanks Brandt, shows they all work pretty well.

thanks. that is a very valid point. I'm not concerned about protection against scratches in this test, however I think slickness was an original variable I was going to use..
I will admit I was disappointed in the beading at 5 weeks - I've only washed with PH neutral soap or Wolfs Mean green which is also ph neutral and only Spray and Wipe afterwards- but the water behavior on the hood is still great with flooding, rinsing off and when driving in the rain (the one time it happened in the last 5 weeks-ha)

ok so I decided to keep it on the hood...at least until March....and I will reevaluate the original variables sunday and make some assessments....for the sake of discussion if nothing else

thanks. EXP is always a good choice- if I could choose one of these 4 it would be EXP hands down....It's my favorite but I'm quite biased to Poorboy's Products

You don't have to, I was just giving you a hard time. :D

It really is a good test, and THANKS for doing it. (since I use most of the products)

well I ended up doing the blackhole and nattys black on my neighbors car instead of redoing my truck the last day I had off

Sunday I need to post and update my wax on a coating test (its been about a month + since application) I was just waiting to get at least a month in before I posted on that (but that thread is coming probably sunday)

Interesting how the LSP's started to wear out around the 5-week mark.

I like BFWD but I also found it didn't last long enough, but the slickness is still the best I've felt to date.

I'd like to see how Megs D156 holds up.

I posted in another thread asking about Wolfgang Gloss Seal or Opti Seal. Would be curious to see the DP Gloss compared to the others.

the nice beads are gone but it still sheets great and all 4 are still slick. Im gonna try to check it weekly now, but i just booked a few more cars so i might not get around to washing it again for a few weeks.

I habe wg deep gloss spritz sealant, but no dp gloss. i will make a better list once i get closer to that test

I'm using the Meg d156 as a drying agent and spray wax to get by in the Minnesota winter. It's just a spray wax, not much more then that? After trying a few spray waxes, D156 is the only spray wax I'll be using or buying. It's not much of a long term sealant like these others.

I just finished off a gallon of it...thats some good stuff..i use it on my basic washes as drying aid.
