Seriously though, Ron. If Ferrari, McLaren, and Porsche can all make bat$!#% crazy hybrids why can't Chevy? The Vette is the perfect platform to try it with.
I can't fine the head/wall banging emoji anymore.![]()
Next they'll make it a self drive.
The battery technology is lagging. They have not really had a significant break through in quite some time.
Ron will be driving an all wheel drive, twin turbo, V6 Shelby GT 500."Whoa you've got one of those new electric Corvettes?!"
"Yes, it drove me to and from the mall yesterday. I was able to use my smartphone the entire time. It was great."
- I can't see this conversation ever happening. If it ever does, it will be a very sad day.
Ron will be driving an all wheel drive, twin turbo, V6 Shelby GT 500.It's not funny on either part.

Where are your sources? Batteries have made HUGE advancement in the past decade, from awful ni-cad to lithium to lowering the cost of battery production to levels 1/3 of what they used to be. Mobile phones are direct result of battery technology advancement, when they grow so do the E cars.
Would be a sad sad day to see the rumble of a Corvette V8 replaced by the whine of an electric motor.
AbsolutelyThe only whine one should hear from a vette is a blower.
I meant a quantum leap in an affordable technology with much higher power density not an incremental improvement to existing.. Yes, batteries are very improved over the recent history and there are some promising ones just getting getting commercially viable.
When considering the mcclaren p1, porsche 918 and LaFerrari, I don't see why hybrid tech is such a bad thing for the Vette. The Vette being the flagship of GM performance, it needs to push boundaries on this side of the pond.
Sure it's not the traditional drivetrain configuration for a Vette, but neither is direct injection, VVT, LSD or eLSD among other advances.
Look at it this way Ron, everyone resisted Porsche's move away from air-cooled systems, now they fetch a pretty penny.
