Sirus RIPOFF

Spotify on my phone is all I need :)

Vega -

Now youre talking !!!!
Spotify sounds light years ahead of "before Analog sounding Sirius/XM radio"..

Too bad Sirius has this incredible deal with all auto makers to have their app installed in their radios.....
Wonder how they managed to do that and how much that cost.....

Even on my lame LG Enact phone, Spotify sounds so much better because it is not compressed and ruined like all the others including Apple...
I hope they get enough support to keep on going and hopefully one day, knock the others off..

I mean, if you really appreciate music and how its recorded (and yes, even that stage is horribly mismanaged at times), then why cant you hear it like it was intended by the best engineers, and of course the most awesome groups on the planet ??

Yes :)

For anyone wondering, Spotify is like Pandora but I think even better. It has the radio option like Pandora so you can just type in an artist like "Bob Marley" and listen to "Bob Marley" radio, but you can also go to any specific artist and listen to any of their albums, or any specific song. You can even build your own custom playlists or listen to pre-made playlists which are categorized by genre. It's a little more complicated to use than Pandora, but once you figure it out it's much better. With the premium service I get unlimited skips too. So I can basically listen to anything I want, whenever I want for $9.99 a month. All of your data is synced on all your devices too. So if I listen to a song in my car, then go to my computer, I just hit play right were I left off. And you can control the music from any device too. So at home when I'm playing the music on my receiver, I can change the song or control Spotify from my cell phone!

And to add to Dans point, the quality is great. I pay for Premium Spotify which gives you even better quality sound and you can download ANY song or playlist to your device so you can listen to it even if you don't have service. I have a few albums downloaded just in case I'm somewhere without service.

p.s. I swear I don't work for Spotify :)

I wish there was a way to remove credit card information from their site. Also, I dont think they offer the lifetime membership plan any more.

If you really want to hear music from a player that totally blows everyone out of the water you need to check - PonoMusic | Store

Neil Young, an incredibly talented Canadian Rocker from the late 60's - on - has decided that enough with crappy, compressed, awful , missing a lot of the individual recorded tracks, music and players out there so he spent a few years and developed his own player which you can buy and he gets all the music he can find and ups the bit rate to 44.1 or something like that, and it sounds as good or better than most home receivers can do unless they are newer and set up to run really high audio bit rates..

If you for example, have an apple music account on your hard drive, his app will take all your lame-o sounding apple compressed music and covert it to the higher rate and it will sound so much better even from your awful like mine laptop speakers...

He was around with all these new people trying to break into the Music Scene back in the late 60's and a few people he worked with, joined up with, or collaborated with were -
Crosby, Stills, and Nash, and for a while, Young, Jackson Browne, the Eagles, Linda Rondstadt, and many more..

I recently bought a CD he made and was listening to a song - "The Needle and the Damage Done", and it sounded so perfectly beautiful, just him and his acoustic guitar, incredible guitar work, voice, words, music, and then when it ended, a few thousand people started clapping... He had just done this in a concert in Southern California, and it sounded every bit as good as if he had done it in a Studio..

The reason Im telling you this is because anyone who goes to such great lengths to make everything as perfect as possible, is going to continue to do this and his player and music audio upgrade is definitely worth listening to if you care a hoot about music - all kinds of music..
Check it out sometime...

Thanks Dan

I let my free trial expire. I don't drive long enough each day to make it worthwhile. Pandora has filled the gap for me. (Gotta get my 80's Rock Fix) B)

Well, I was waiting to see if these SiriusXM people could redeem themselves and actually send me a Link so I could change my forgotten password and access my account, but going on for just over 1 month, I am still not able to do something as simple as this...

Have been on their Chat this morning, and just today worked with 2 different guys I assume, from another country, who both said "I am sending you a link right now, so you can reset your password", and an hour later, nothing...

Have already had a complaint about this for over a month, with Corporate dept., talked on the phone with people who handle Escalated problems, and they are also not able to help me but promised they would today...

All I want to do is access my account, change my address, because I have recently moved, muck around it for awhile and be ok with it...
Why is this so hard to do ???

I think they really dont want anyone to access their account if possible so they can continue to bleed it, and keep their just barely above FM signal, running...
This is so pathetic....

If you cant get on
You cant cancel

I just did cancel. In fact, you can't cancel on-line. You have to give them a call.

My wife and I enjoy Old Time Radio on XM. I traded the old car in (finally? Y2K Chrysler 300M w/ 235K miles) on another old car (07 Miata). The Bose system is set up for a Sirus receiver, but it wasn't included. It's OOP, but even if it were, it would be $300. No freaking way. For that price, I can buy a new head unit and get a less expensive Sirus tuner. I don't really feel like monkey-farting around with another dash kit for my Onyx Plus. I like the idea of a nice clean interior wihout the XM tuner hanging off an AC vent like it did in my 300M.

Some of the alternatives mentioned in this thread sound like good alternatives. Pandora, Spotify, etc. Cell service is still far from universal, but is pretty good. At least as good as XM when you factor places satellite signal is lost. Going under overpasses, trees blocking line of site to their satellite, even my house when I pull up in the driveway.

I couldn't cancel online. Not even through chat. Had to call and talk to someone. No pressure at all, except they did offer to convert my subscription to online only. Uhm, no. Why pay for something I can from Pandora, Spotify or elsewhere for free? But no offers of reduced rate plans. Cool.

I can get all my wife's favorite shows online anyway, and download them for playback when she wants to hear them, rather than when XM or Sirus want to broadcast them.

Another financial monkey off my back. What a relief. A little more money for Zaino products. :-)

Yes, they are stupid high prices. The only way to get a fair price is call to cancel.
I did the trial on my new car. For a month I had threatening calls that I owed retail $$$
(these threatening calls were made by folks from the other side of the planet)
I had to speak to someone "In the USA" to finally get them off my back. I hated that!

Ron, you're so old I bet you can remember when TV, radio and water was free. ROFL

Bwahahahahahahh. Oh yeah I do. Yeah I'm old.

Same experience with the calls. No English.

I asked if someone there spoke English...Boy was that a mistake!

My guess is they are contracted, and harass folks into paying "retail".
They were using a local (tri-county) phone prefix exchange to call me.
I finally had to block the phone number to stop their harassing phone calls.
When I called the U.S. call center I could tell they knew the frustration in my voice.
The U.S. rep offered me a "deal" so I took it. I've been with Sirius (before XM) a long time.
I have XM send me an invoice (no CC on file) & each year I call 'em for a new "deal" then pay it.
If that's their game, and I can save hundreds of dollars over "retail", then each year I play their game

...and yes, I'm so old I remember when harass was two words.

Sorry, nothing can be done to compressed files to bring back what was lost during compression. I also couldn't find anything on their website that claimed Pono would convert your old files to a higher bit rate. They do claim that your music will sound better through their player. But that claim is made by every audio component manufacturer.
