Sirus RIPOFF

Did the same to me. I sent a rr letter to cancel. It was ignored. I sent to credit card commonly and they reverse red the charges to the date of the letter. They suck

Yeah I have it in my Daily Driver/work truck I think its around 200$ a year but its on the business credit card auto pay. I tried canceling once but after i told them i wanted to cancel they stuck me on hold for an hour so i gave up. I almost never listen to it only Saturday and Sunday mornings espn because the local sports shows are running stupid golf shows and infoercials. I hate Sirus.

We had it for 6months on my wife's car when we got it back in '09. I now have a trial on my car and we really do like it especially on long trip where you move in and out of radio station areas. But other than that we don't see the point of paying for radio when you can have it for free. Now no one like commercials but you can either switch stations or we have iPods loaded with day's worth of music on playlist.

I would consider paying aging if it was 20-40 bucks for the entire year maybe even 50-60. But now way I am paying those crazy prices just for radio that I can have for free... But everyone has their own preferences and priorities. Heck I am considering getting rid of cable, home phone, just to save some money and validate the cost of my internet and cell phones.

I dumped the cable and home phone. I don't even have a TV that works.

I got a lifetime membership when it first came out pay 0$ till I or XM/Sirus dies...

Sucks they try and rip people off now.

My Camaro come with 3 months free and now then I get the free 2 week thing. I can't see paying for it since the stations I always tuned into do a lot of chatting between songs. It maybe commercial free but if I am paying for music I want to hear music not announcers talking about the bands and where they playing. I have a USB port and bought a $10 8G USB stick called the cruzer fit. It is low profile, plugs into the USB port in the arm rest and holds all my music, currently around 1800 songs and probably enough room to hold another 3000 to 4000 songs. No commercials and even though it contains all the music I like if I don't want to listen to what is playing I click the up button. Try that with Sirius!

We have it @ $89.00 year. We will be keeping it because my wife likes the radio classics station and you know who wins that battle :) I do like 50,60, 70, some Elvis, Bruce and Frank Sinatra ...

I had XM in the xterra and loved it. But dropped it. I can pick it up again really cheap. Something like $20 for 3-6 months. When i had it i just got the mostly music package.

Got rid of phone service 4 years ago when everyone in the house got a cell phone. Now I am working on cutting the cord to Dish Network. I watch a lot of sports so right now it is difficult to do, but it won't be long before everything is "ala cart" and we can pick the channels we want to see. My 15 year old never watches TV, all YouTube or Netflix. Saving all my money for detailing supplies. Lol

Called to cancel

Got offered 1/2 price. Grabbed it. :D

So what do you recommend for a guy whose complimentary subscription runs out in Decemeber? After almost 5 months the vehicle has 700 miles on it. I can honestly tell you if I were paying for it I wouldn't be getting my money's worth. I hate having anything in my vehicle that isn't working up to capacity even down to the radio and even though I've used it very little. I have no doubt they wouldn't consider the amount of time I've spent in the vehicle as criteria for their pricing. I've quite iterally spent twice as much time detailing, coating, sealing, etc. the vehicle as I have driving it. :) I don't want them sending me a bill because I didn't act on the expiration time of the subscription. I've considered calling them now but haven't done anything about it.

For free trial you don't have to do anything (unless you gave em a cc # )
For me they "automatically renew" unless you cancel. Even if like me you pay annually at once.

^^^ This is the problem I have with their system. You renew at the then-current 100% pricing which is obtuse...and obscene! I won't do it. And, frankly, I don't want to spend 1/2hr trying to get the idiots on the phone and get a better price every 5 or 12 months. Their service just isn't worth it. It's very spotty in my area and I hate the commercials.

If you think you're going to subscribe to their system long-term, the (single) lifetime payment is the way to go.

That's what I would have thought however when my Father's trial period ran out on his truck they notified him a month after it had happened and wanted him to pay for the month that had just passed. They don't have my card but apparently there is some type of agreement that takes place when you activate the entertainment system. My radio had a plastic sticker that said to be removed only by customer, it had a number on it and I really didn't fully realize what I was doing when I entered the number when I set up SYNC, I believe I made some type of handshake agreement with them but I have no idea what it was. By the way the new SYNC 3 system is light years ahead of SYNC 2. Poor excuse for an entertainment/navigation system.

I let my trial run out last year. They peppered me with offers to reup....but no threats of "overdue" invoices or other nonsense.

When I bought my car it was already set up or the dealer set it up. If you are on the trial period and have not given them a cc and no longer want it just let it expire. If you gave them a cc you need to call and cancel before the trial period ends or you will be charged full price per month. If you are looking for a deal either let it expire and wait for the renewal notices to come, they will offer you 6 month deals for $25 or less. They will send a few of them. Other option is call and ask for the deals. Never give them a cc, ask them to send you a bill and send them a check. That is the only way to stay away from auto renewal. Unless something has changed in the last few years they should not be able ask you for back months if you never had a regular subscription. My 3 month free trial lasted over 5 months due to a few holidays where they had 2 week free periods plus they sent me a notice for renewal that they wanted me to subscribe and that came with a month free.
