G'day, I come from the land down under.

Hello to all,

I'd like to into myself, I'm Giles, now the other side of 50, so I'm starting to mature but I've been wise for a long time now.

I'm located far, far away from you guys. I'm 180kms south of Perth in Western Australia. Perth is the most isolated capital city on the planet, so I'm just down the road from the end of the earth. Not really, it's a great place, sun, sand, wine, surf and BIG sharks.

I've been buying & resurrecting cars for 30 years+ and I've recently decided to turn my amateur status pro.

I'll be the first to admit I don't know everything, but I know a good thing when I see it and I love to learn.

For the past 10 years or so I've been into Merc's, especially from the 1970's. Had more than dozen and they've been good to me.

So I'd like to say thanks for having me along in your forum.

Cheers,

Giles

Welcome, mate !
Hope you enjoy your stay - this is an all around outstanding Forum..
Hard to beat the Mercedes line - just beautiful cars and their diesels seem to run forever..
I personally loved it when they went to Ceramic-Clear paint later..

Many thanks for the welcome guys.

Seems like a hive of activity around here. Wax on & then wax some more.

I'm a recent convert to synthetic wax due to the local climate and environment.

Does this rub anyone the wrong way?

DanF, I've got a 2104 Merc ML in Black booked for next week. Any recommendations on sealant? I'm thinking Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax. We don't have everything available down here so I though that this would be adequate.

Regards,

Giles

the megs ultimate is a good call. I've tried a lot of waxes over the years, recently tried the megs ultimate, and was pleasantly surprised how really good it is. use two coats.

Giles,
Love those newer Mercedes ML SUV's..
Whatever you can get there will definitely help.
.
Awhile back a few years, Menzerna (the people who made some great compounds and polishes for Mercedes ceramic-clear paintwork), came out with a nice Polymer Sealant called Power Lock and it worked very nicely on German car paint, which I have a lot of experience on..

There are many Sealants available for sure, and if the Meguiars is all you can get, it will be fine..

Everyone on this Forum is good with any product and we are always talking about them, so let us know what you mates have down there, ok ?

I also had very great results on German car paintwork again, with a newer nano technology Sealant from Sonax, another German company and its called Sonax Polymer Net Shield...
This product goes on a little grabby after you have corrected, polished, and wiped down your paintwork, so you adjust to just a small area and then wipe it off..
The gloss and protection after is outstanding, and lasts a long time.
I tested it on a very scratched and then corrected Jet Black BMW in Washington State and the vehicle sat outside 24x7 for months and it was still beading and looking great when it dried, with no water spots..

Your good prep work and finish will make that Mercedes stunning with your available products !
Let us know how it goes, ok ?

Late reply, but the ML job is done and dusted, so to speak.
