You’ve seen the headlines: Researchers just developed a new mathematical model that purportedly predicts the Sun’s future behavior. They conclude that the strange solar activity of the past 17 years will continue and even deepen. As a result, they say, we’re entering a “Maunder Minimum”: a prolonged period of reduced sunspot activity that will produce a global cooling in the decades ahead.

But hold on. Not so fast. Some solar experts disagree. Indeed, scientists don’t even agree about what’s really unfolding with climate change. The most sophisticated satellites show a 17-year-long flatness in global air temperatures: no warming since 1998. Indeed, in 2013, The New York Times said, “The global warming crowd has a problem. For all of its warnings, and despite a steady escalation of greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere, the planet’s average surface temperature has remained pretty much the same for the last 15 years.”
 
This is the reason they don't call it "Global Warming" anymore... They call it climate change. There is so much BS involved and it sickens me. When it rains too much, it is climate change. When it doesn't rain enough, its climate change. When there is a storm, its climate change. When there is no storm, its climate change. When it is hot, its climate change. When it is cold, its climate change. Was there a single weather event that was not tied to climate change???? Isn't climate suppose to change on its own anyway?????

IMO....this "Climate Change" is a religion of sort. Try having an intelligent debate with one of these global alarmist is useless. When you question their religion, their argument to support their faith is always a scientific fact as well as the final word. When you argue your point, they will always demonize it and say it is not science. Its only science when it suits their argument. Its only the "Truth" when they say it is.

BTW.... I lived through the 70s and 80s. I seen this before. Back then it was called "Global Cooling". People were screaming about the next ice-age being upon us due to the abuse of the planet caused by man.

Here in sunny south jersey we are in a heat wave for the next few days, news flash its July its suppose to be hot and humid. Problem is today they make the weather into news they pay these young girls to look pretty and hype the hell out of it, its all bullsht.
 
I think it has a lot to do with people's self importance. How could it not be caused by them they need to fix it they are so important, the children our are future only they can save us. Their mom and dad told and treated them like they were gods gift to the world. I think people have gone from over worshiping gods to now over worshiping themselves.
 
I guess Noah experienced climate change. The biblical answer is usually man caused any event they want to explain (flood, famine, conquered, fire, etc) as punishment. Yet in this case, man is not considered the cause.

It is hard to tell what man's impact is on the climate. We know if a lot of volcanoes emitted ash and CO2 it would not be good for the environment (man is doing something similar) but one could be perfect and still nature makes changes.
 
It's funny how when we were winning wars, inventing atomic bombs, putting men on the moon, inventing cell phones and integrated circuits, etc. scientists and engineers were considered by non-technical people to be someone who could be believed and trusted, but now they are just hoaxers.

Hey remember the 80's when there was a big hole in the ozone? And it was like the end of the world? And now that stuff just all went away. I guess that must have just been a big hoax...or maybe it had something to do with people believing that it was real and eliminating all the ozone-depleting chemicals, which actually caused the hole to close up. Nah....

Don't get me wrong - I like you, and I know we'd share a laugh / GREAT meal if we'd ever met in person. But you're kill me with this hoax nonsense. Global warming is happening, the evidence of it is real, science has without any doubt proven it.

My $0.02... Global warming and global cooling have been occurring here since the planet formed. It has also been happening on our sister planets where there are no humans to blame. Climate change would happen here even if there were no people living on this globe. Now the key part. Even the most fervent GW believers are forced to admit that if we were to completely stop CO2 emissions tomorrow, it would have no significant effect on our global temperatures. In fact, as our total CO2 emissions have increased over the past 15 years our average temperatures measured by NOAA's satellites has not increased.

IMO, this BS is all about power and money. Just as it was back some 40 years ago when these "scientists" were alarming us with the next ice age is eminent threat.

I think the Climate Change BS has run its course. As the polls now show, most of the public has lost interest in this scare mongering tactic to gain power and money.

I do believe we should do things as responsible tenants to reduce pollution and clean up after ourselves, but the economic impact must also be considered. As the global population grows so will the problems we face. I frankly am more concerned about food and potable water shortages than current temperature trends which have been essentially flat for the past 15 years.
 
While its true, the Earth has gone through normal freeze/ thaw cycles all along - it wasn't until the industrial revolution that CO2 levels began to sky rocket:

Global temperature rise

All three major global surface temperature reconstructions show that Earth has warmed since 1880.[SUP]5[/SUP] Most of this warming has occurred since the 1970s, with the 20 warmest years having occurred since 1981 and with all 10 of the warmest years occurring in the past 12 years.[SUP]6[/SUP] Even though the 2000s witnessed a solar output decline resulting in an unusually deep solar minimum in 2007-2009, surface temperatures continue to increase.[SUP]7[/SUP]

Warming oceans

The oceans have absorbed much of this increased heat, with the top 700 meters (about 2,300 feet) of ocean showing warming of 0.302 degrees Fahrenheit since 1969.[SUP]8[/SUP]

Shrinking ice sheets

The Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets have decreased in mass. Data from NASA's Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment show Greenland lost 150 to 250 cubic kilometers (36 to 60 cubic miles) of ice per year between 2002 and 2006, while Antarctica lost about 152 cubic kilometers (36 cubic miles) of ice between 2002 and 2005.

Extreme events

The number of record high temperature events in the United States has been increasing, while the number of record low temperature events has been decreasing, since 1950. The U.S. has also witnessed increasing numbers of intense rainfall events.[SUP]11[/SUP]

Ocean acidification

Since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, the acidity of surface ocean waters has increased by about 30 percent.[SUP]12,[/SUP][SUP]13[/SUP] This increase is the result of humans emitting more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and hence more being absorbed into the oceans. The amount of carbon dioxide absorbed by the upper layer of the oceans is increasing by about 2 billion tons per year.[SUP]14,[/SUP][SUP]15[/SUP]
