Meguiars M101 Foam Cut Compound removal ?

Any one else having trouble removing M101? Tried it for the first time tonight in the garage,warm and humid. Used B&S yellow and orange pads primed and used 4 pea sized drops. Made 4 or 5 passes on a 1/4 of the trunk lid on a 05 DeVille. Tried removing with 480 edgeless MF towel and man was it tough to remove. Lots of smearing and just a bear to work with...

Maybe try an IPA mix on your towel?

I have had no issues removing M101 using a ONR mix sprayed on the paint and a soft mf towel.
If you think Megs M101 is a bear to work with you should try some M105. You'll hate life!
If you're looking for an easy to remove compound try some Megs Ultimate Compound.

Ohh the good ole days.

M105 would flash/dry up fast...then there was the suggestion to mist a little water on the paint to revive it.
Have you ever done that??? You hit it with the polisher after it is misted and wet M105 splatter would fly everywhere!
Nasty little spots of compound would get into every crevice of my wiper cowl then harden up. It was a beast to remove!

BTW - Another "easy to remove" compound is Megs D300. It does not cut as well as M101 but it's a breeze to wipe off.

Use menzerna....it's always been easy for me to remove all different compounds.

Try m100 a little more aggressive than d300 and just as easy to remove

With all nondiminishing-abrasive compounds, I 1) don't overwork them to the point that they're all dried out (yeah, even with M105) and 2) use a spritz of M34 when buffing off.

Thanks for all the suggestions. For years I've used mostly Meguiars products, but I decided to order and try HD cut and HD polish. Once I receive and use them I will do a review of the products. Just hope they are easier to work with and do the job of removing defects on a 05 black deville.

You should be very satisfied!! Great products--long working time, easy to remove. Don't forget though with HD polishes "less is more"-- don't prime the pad, just 4-5 pea sized drops for first section then clean on the fly, then 2-3 drops for each additional section. No pad conditioner, detail spray or water spray on the pad.
