If you really believe that the Democratic and Republican Parties are the same...you are not paying attention

I agree. While I do get the basis of the generalization and why that position can be appealing, just look at the differing positions on [various Hot Button issues] that can affect individuals in some very specific, very personal ways.

Eh, I don't get the point of even thinking about such stuff...ack, I just wasted a couple of minutes that I'll never get back...I gotta just ignore these Politics threads :o

Until this country has a viable alternative to the two parties which are both owned and paid for, and who don't represent the people at all...nothing changes. Its the death of the country either way. Yes, there's a difference in the way they are taking us down...but the result's the same. Right now two brothers are spending more money trying to buy the next election...that they are out spending the two parties combined. Two brothers.

Harry also said, that mitt didn't pay taxes. :jawdrop:

Hey a few billion here a few billion there before you know it your talking real money. Holy cow if its true they guess his worth at 42.9 billion he may have that kinda money for the campaign under a cushion or forgotten about in a shoe box or his old wallet. Guess he figures he spent enough buying politicians already just cut out the middleman buy the campaign.

From the Washington Post...

The new $889 million goal reflects the anticipated budgets of all the allied groups that the network funds. Those resources will go into field operations, new data-driven technology and policy work, among other projects, along with likely media campaigns aimed at shaping the congressional and White House elections.
The group — which is supported by hundreds of wealthy donors on the right, along with the Kochs — is still debating whether it will spend some of that money in the GOP primaries. Such a move could have a major impact in winnowing the field of contenders, but could also undercut the network’s standing if it engaged in intraparty politics and was not successful.

You should fact check that one

Koch Brothers

Do you really think a persons Vote can be Bought? How exactly does that work? Do you believe in Freedom of Speech? Should microphones and bullhorns be outlawed, or just TV commercials?

Should Unions collect dues from their Members and spend it almost exclusively on Democratic Campaigns?

And use those bull horns to tell you who to vote for

I would like to see parties abolished. Let an individual stand for what he/she believes in

How do you believe the party system prevents an individual candidate from standing for his beliefs?

Ted Cruz, Rand Paul & Jeb Bush are all Republicans. Do you see any differences between their platforms?

I would argue that lack of diversity of thought is more prevalent elsewhere

Excerpt from the Wall Street Journal January 2015...

"A massive campaign-spending goal announced by conservative donors is sending early shock waves through the 2016 election landscape.

A network of conservative groups backed by the billionaire Koch brothers said it is planning to spend $889 million on the 2016 elections, an unprecedented figure that is more than twice the amount that 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney spent on his campaign.

The number was announced on Monday to about 450 donors who attended a luncheon at the Ritz-Carlton in Rancho Mirage, Calif., as part of a weekend-long summit hosted by Freedom Partners, one of several conservative groups affiliated with Charles and David Koch, according to an attendee. The summit and luncheon are part of an annual tradition, and the attendee said donors pledged a record amount.

Apparently this is all legal so the Democrats can do it as well. Until campaign finance laws are reformed this will take place on a regular basis.
