Stuff you need for detailing, BUT beware what you chose

Wax Waster
There is all kinds of equipment we need, but we need to be careful on what we chose.

This is the place to post that kind of thing.

Below, is a 1 year old Samsung washing machine. Top load. Doesn't clear dirt out when it drains..........................

We must have the same Samsung washing machine, as mine does the same thing.

Mine..... Washed the clothes yesterday, from beach trip on Saturday.

This was after I wiped it out with damp paper towels, and running self clean cycle 3 times, and rinse/spin/drain cycle a few times too.

I miss my old, cheap, non (HE) washing machine. We have a front load LG now and while it's quiet, I hate the mildew smell it can get and dislike it for doing towels because of how little water it uses.

Keep the door open when not in use and it shouldn't smell.

Get me going on washing machines....we're on our second HE for household textiles, it's somewhat better than the first one but still lousy for really dirty stuff. I keep an old direct-drive toploader in the shop for things that really need the agitation or otherwise truly need to get clean.

The HE *is* good for running MFs through the Sanitary Cycle, but I still aways wash them in the old unit first to get the dirt out. It'll do household towels OK as long as I do relatively small loads, but that's with a PreWash, Sanitary Cycle, Extra Rinse, and yet another rinse cycle after that. Probably ends up using a whole lot more water and electricity than the old-tech one, but it is very gentle on whatever's being washed (well, other than stuff getting all twisted up, which can also lead to things not getting clean...).

Same here. I do keep a plastic pitcher near the washing machine and will add a few pitchers of water to the towels when I wash my detailing stash.

When I get my garage set up, I plan an having a non HE top load in the garage for my detailing stuff.

You'll wonder how you ever got by without it ;)

It's getting hard to find good (new) non-HE washers though, the water use regs keep getting tighter. I'd maybe look for a used Whirlpool direct drive in good shape.

We try to but the room is narrow and it's hard to walk by with it open. :/

Same here....wife will be happier this way too! :)

Really want to put your micro in there ?

Heck no! Not rinsing all of the dirt out seems like a design flaw. Which model # is it Ron? We'll need to replace our non-HE machine eventually and I'll keep your experence in mind.

I have a sweet GE top loading HE washer that is one of the highest cu ft capacities on the market. The only complaint i have is the fabric softener buildup in the collector, but I can select fabric softener on or off. Water level selection was trial and error for a while, but mine usually determines water needs by weight of the load. If I check it mid-cycle and feel like there is insufficient liquid I just hit the extra rinse button. I also do the self cleaning cycle before any MF loads with a few extra steps (hot water in the softener collector and agitate/ presoak and extra rinse)

Do your consumer reviews! Unless its a brand new first generation model SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE has had problems.

Have been adding extra water from a small bucket for years to my HE front loader - it also wants to use just so much when I think more water will be better..
Cant believe a washer that wont drain everything out.. That is not good ever..

Samsung front loader HE is no better than the top loader that started this post. I can't stand mine. Adding a pitcher of water helps, but still not ideal.
I was disappointed with the way that all my expensive MF's seemed to lose softness and absorbency rather quickly no matter what I did. To test if it was the washer I took a few hefty bags full and went to to a coin op with the old style top loaders. I ran them through one full wash cycle with no soap, just to get any soap residue out, then washed them using the WG MF detergent. Used 8 machines at a time. This was a mission. To say the towels felt different afterwards is a huge understatement. They felt like new towels. This proved to me what a crappy job that HE Samsung washer does (it wasn't cheap, either). I plan on replacing it before too long. You can still get Whirlpool standard top loader machines at Home Depot or lowes and they tend to be on the lower end of the price scale.

Ron,

Does your Samsung washer have WiFi, Facebook access, & a computer screen?

If not, that's probably why it's no good.
