First time with the PE8

Got my PE8 last week and was itching to try it out. So I decided to pull off my rear license plate and polish the panel behind it.

As you can see. It was pretty nasty.

I decided on a 2 in pad with FG400 to do the first step. Just like any polisher I primed the pad and went to town. Because of the small diameter in pad size I kept the dial at around 2 max. This was plenty of speed for this job.

As you can see, I was able to fit into all the tight areas. The machine ran nice and smooth and is very quiet.

After the FG400, I used the black 2 in pad with SF4000 to finish with. Then recoated that area with BF Crystal coating.

Here it is all polished but before the coating.

Overall the machine is perfect for intricate detail work. My only little issue is the side mounted rocker switch. I feel a pressure switch would be better suited.

I like the tiny pad too, but is it just me, or seeing the PE8 in someone's hand doesn't it look bigger than you'd anticipate?

I know, before someone says it that isn't what she said... :P

I wonder how the PE8 would be though with a 3" pad and some glass polish on a window.

I like those tiny pads !

They are pretty cool!!

Posts like these make me want to spend money.B)

Get to spending! Hahaha

Cool !!!!

Nice work

Thank you Ron!

A little bigger but it really is comfortable to use. Super smooth too. I have the 3in pads as well. May have to try them on the glass!

You have the glass pads and polish? I'm really curious how it will do. Like these, with the Griots or other glass polishes: Griots Garage 3 Inch Glass Polishing Pads, Set of 3

I have the 3" Griots DA and honestly that's just a red vibrator, I don't think it corrects anything. And my Flex 3403 rotary is a bit big for 3" pads..

Thanks!

I need to get the 3in glass pads. I have the bigger ones for my 3401 and work great. your right about the GG 3in not being able to correct. Works good to apply a coat of wax though.

You guys should try the RUPES 4 inch Coarse BLUE Pad on the Griots 3 inch. The stiff foam allows the Griots 3 inch to rotate without bogging down and it actually does a great job of correcting.

Thanks for the suggestion. As much as I'm a supporter of the Griots 6" I'm underwhelmed by the 3". Getting it something to make it more useful than a $100 wax applicator would be nice.
