COMING SOON FROM 3D/HD: Iron Particle Remover (video)

This is great news! I hope it is coming out soon since I need to restock. I'm happy that I will be able to pick it up locally too.

I'll be the first one to order. Even a preorder. Iron x and its brothers are not cost effective for a pro detailer. Most normal people can't even wrap their heads around iron particles, that they can see, are rusting away their paint.

Im highly interested! My questions are this...

I solely try to use 3D/HD products because of their "green", eco-friendly, VOC free, and environmentally safe compounds. Some of, if not most/all of, the other iron removers on the market are harsh and nowhere near friendly. Being a 3D product, will this still follow the company standards as well as remain made in America?

I hope that you have been able to make this more appealing to the senses, mainly smell, than the others have. While this isnt a huge deciding factor for me, it does make using these products more enjoyable...

Cost, as stated above. Most of the similar products out there are not cost effective for us pro detailers out there trying to make a living. If this can come out at a price point that not only appeals to the consumer, but can allow the pros to offer this process on more packages, it would not only benefit our clients, but make our detailing process quicker as well, resulting in more free time. Which we all know.. time equals money...

I agree with others comments about how fast it started to react, and I fore one, would love to be one of the first detailers to get my hands on a bottle to try and evaluate. Especially on the East coast...

When can we expect a release date, and do you need any real-world evaluations? If so, I would love to do one for you!!!

Cost effective iron remover? You've got me sold. I normally don't use them just because of the massive expense, and for those not doing $500+ details every day it can be a huge budget buster. Would love to product test/review as well if it gets to that stage.

Hopefully more companies like 3D will continue to release products as effective as iron x and we'll see prices come down across the board

I hope this is not a teaser video and the product is not released in a timely manner. I am really wanting to get my hands on a sample bottle. Looks promising.

David, is this made in the USA?

I wouldn't get your hopes up too much, apparently the active ingredient is quite expensive. Apparently the reason these wheel cleaners have become available in recent years is not because of some new chemical, but because someone thought they could market an expensive wheel cleaner to us crazy detailers. And yes, it smells like hair perm because it's the same chemical (or a close cousin), and it's been used industrially to remove rust stains from concrete just like Tunch was doing in the video, for many many years.

Excited to try it, as long as it's comparable to the other iron removers out there in strength and effectiveness, I could care less about the smell :)
Especially if it costs much less!

Need price and release date please. Or if you want real world testing i would be happy to sample this at the Audi dealership i detail at wink wink

Is it going to have it's smell masked more effectively? Looking forward to the comparisons.
This product has a slight Citrus smell that should take away from the pungency of the sulfur smell. I'm not going to say that it doesn't smell, just not super bad.

Couldn't help but notice that he was using it in direct sunlight. Will this product be sun friendly or was it just a cool day that made it acceptable to use?
Sure is. You just want to avoid the product from drying on the surface.

Great stuff David. Looks like another winning product from 3D.
Thanks Pat! I'm hoping that you give it a try and let us know what you think.

David,

You got me, I will buy a bottle to try. I have 4 Litters of Iron X sitting on my self, but I would buy to try and make it my go to if its 1/2 price and works like that. I just need to see that the surface is slick after use (contam free like with Iron X) and the clay stays relatively clean.

Then I will buy big bottles.
If you like Iron-X, you'll love 3D/HD's offering. Not going to say that the surface will be "slick" as that's typically a result of using a protectant, but the surface (and your clay bar after) will be iron particle free.

This product is very intriguing. I will for sure buy this if it works better and the price is cheaper than IronX.

One comment though. It seems to react very quickly to the iron and turns purple right away... That's pretty good!
That's the whole point of offering a product such as this. People want cheap, quick & easy to use as time is money. This one absolutely reacts quickly to any iron deposits on the surface and constantly keeps breaking it down.

This product will 100% be manufactured by 3D in Santa Clarita, CA. Keep in mind that most of these type of iron removers aren't manufactured by the retail companies selling them which is why the prices are so astronomical. This will also be 100% VOC compliant too. We're still pondering offering this product as a concentrate or as a RTU. The odor on the RTU version is much more masked from my findings.

I'm willing to bet that this will be the most cost effective iron remover on the market and will end up putting a bee hive in many competitor's bonnet. In fact, I've already seen a few complain about how this products is already being marketed.

Hopefully more companies like 3D will continue to release products as effective as iron x and we'll see prices come down across the board
Yeah, the high price gravy train has been ridden for quite a while which has turned off a ton of people(myself included) from trying these types of products. I can't speak on all the companies, but the ones that don't manufacturer their own products might not be able to compete in this arena?

Like mentioned above, this and ALL of our products are proudly manufactured in the US (Santa Clarita, CA). Testing is just about finalized, but there's a ton of behind the scenes things that need to be finished before launching. I'll give a date as soon as I know it.

Believe it or not, it's not very expensive to produce this product, yet many companies have been getting away with marking it up more than any other product they carry. I know the wholesale cost that a few rebottlers are paying and I can assure you it's being stepped on pretty hard.

Any idea of a release date and pricing..........

Even though I don't have a dog in the race, I'm really hoping it hits the market in the next 60 days. Stay tuned as we get through all the behind the scenes red tape.

I meant slick in that free of contaminant bumps not LSP slick. Probably not the best choice of words on my part.

I dunno, the active ingredient looks pretty expensive to me, about $200 a pound (this is a typical iron removing ingredient):

Sodium thioglycolate ?96.5% (iodometric) | Sigma-Aldrich

I guess we'll see when this product comes out how the price compares to Iron X, FerreX, etc.

This is great news! I love Iron X but it's almost too expensive for what it is. I love 3D/HD Products so this should be a win/win.
