First Nürburgring trip 2015

Smack

Today was a pretty nice day here in Germany for February and decided to take a trip to the infamous Nürburgring to see what was going on. Well not much actually. Everything was closed including the track. Anyways got a few pictures and wanted to share. Still a bit of snow on the ground up there but nevertheless it made for some nice pictures.

Cant wait until it warms up and the track opens. Tentatively opens on the 15th of March

Always wanted to do Euro deliver with my bimmers. Then hit Nürburgring.

Hope it's everything you dreamt of.

It is everything anyone could dream of. Imagine on the way up there your on the Autobahn with you foot buried in the carpet (in un-restricted areas) and then you can get on the "Ring" and go until your hearts content. Then back on the Autobahn with your foot buried again on the way home.

You can get anywhere in a hurry if you really want to. On the other hand you can drain the fuel tank in a hurry as well. lol

I miss it Smack. No place on earth like the ring. I've done 43 laps in a couple different cars.

A little advice: If you can, get your hands on GT3/4/5? etc. Learn the track and watch youtube vids (I'm sure you have). My first day there, I was in my 540i. I had just bought my tickets and the alarm went off. They closed the track. I was like WTF? Turns out two guys had just died on bikes. The track is dangerous and tricky, far more narrow at speed than it seems and there are bumps all over the place that will unsettle the car. Not to be underestimated. I've seen a lot of beautiful cars destroyed there. Take it super slow on your first few laps and stay to the right and really watch your mirrors. People come up really fast. Take your time with the speed. Do you know what the cost is if you wreck? Have a look. It's insanely expensive if they have to tow you, worse if you bust up the armco, and you pay for track closure time. I think a medevac flight cost on the order of 10k euros!

There is nothing quite like this.

Does not surprise me one bit that they died while on their bikes. It's crazy how they let anything with a license plate go around the Ring. On top of that it's a free for all. Bikes, cars, race cars, trucks, you name it. They are all going at it at the same time. You have to watch what everyone else is doing. I believe the cost of fixing things. Also if you close down the track because you crash, you pay for the down time the track is losing.

I may get on the track and drive my car 7-10ths but I am always watching what everyone else is doing. I don't want to become a statistic. I have 12 laps in so far.

Sub'd. I have a feeling this is going to end up in the Epic Threads.

I think I may start a running thread to upload pictures to. I have 1K from last years trips. I may have to start off posting those...

I'll see if I can find some other pics to keep it juicy. Too bad my lap vid is so large.

Great.
